If we send him to Hamilton he still counts against the cap.

And you know Martin will play him, I doubt he gets scratched, even if he should.

Anyways, this is all wishful thinking. Until we get a full roster there's no need to worry about Darche.

Only guy who still counts against the cap if he's sent to the minors is Spacek (with a 100K discount) because he has a 35+ contract.

Gah, he still gets paid his salary, but it doesn't count towards the cap.

My bad, you are right.

I blame the pain killers I'm on, damn morphine!

One way contracts can still be sent down as long as they are not 35+(Spacek/Hamrlik) and still come off the cap...see Avery, Redden, Souray , Commodore etc

martin scratched darche at times in the last 2 years...he just can't do it now because we are usually down 2-3 forwards a night.

You must be reading a lot of Mensa literature because what he said is at the very least debatable

Why are you getting so angry? There's debatable and then there's calling it the stupidest thing you ever read on HFboards

Why is it a dumb thing? Nokelainen is -3 and has 1 points in 20 games, he isn't a force in the physical game. why is it such a stretch taht Weber would be more effective...Weber can score(2 gaols in 3 playoff games up front) and can crash and bang as a forward.

Weber has been effective when used as a forward, I prefer him on defense, but we have 9 NHL calibre d-men so he may be odd man out at some point...by playing him up front he does a pretty good job there, can take a few shifts on defense in case of an injury(or if you want to ease in Markov) plus he is nice to have on the PP.

Yes Weber is a better forward than Nokes. That is why as soon as Spacek is back, Weber will be on the 4th line and Nokes will be in the stands. Hahaha ! Great evaluation.

Markov's Return?

Rumours are often to be ignored, but there's one currently floating around about Andrei Markov's possible return being slated for Saturday against the Penguins.

That would be special, but highly unlikely given that Jacques Martin said last week he doesn't expect Markov to return until after the Canadiens Western swing next week.

Stranger things have happened.

JM just mentioned that Kostitsyn may be healthy enough to play tomorrow.

Jacques Martin says Andrei Kostitsyn might return tomorrow vs Penguins. Don't be surprised if another Andrei (Markov) returns Wed vs Ducks.

This is getting off topic but I'm not impressed by Mensa. In the 1990s I briefly dated a woman Mensa member and met some of her acquaintances. They struck me as insecure and socially maladjusted, trying to prove something to themselves. Is this sour grapes? No, I believe I could qualify if I cared to join. My mother used to brag to her relatives about how intelligent I was but I hated it because it made me unpopular. I'm bright but I don't pretend to be brilliant. In my professional career I interviewed a number of people who actually were geniuses, and some won Nobel prizes. In 1960 I was privileged to spend a morning with Werner Heisenberg at the Max Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics. Prof. Heisenberg asked if we should conduct our interview in English or German. I told him I might be able to discuss a menu in German qith him but that I would be incapable of venturing into his field of expertise. As I expected, he proved to be fluent in English. He autographed one of his books for me and gave me a copy of one of his manuscripts on a unified field theory that would reconcile quantum mechanics with gravity (which still hasn't been accomplished down to the present day). I understood nothing of it and I donated it to a university but I kept the autographed book. I remember his tie tack. It was in the shape of the Planck constant, an h with a diagonal slash on the descending arm.
