The "Bob should be the starter" thread starts in 5,4,3,......
He is 5-1-1 this year......Not too shabby considering everything ?.....In my opinion he is certainly the better athlete of the 2...Bryz has the advantage with the big body and experience, but BOB seems much quicker and he is playing the puck much better behind the net.The bottom line is that BOB is showing steady improvement slowly but surely. Even during a few of his bad game's you can see the raw athletic talent he has, and at times i catch myself saying WOW !I think our Goalie situation will be a good situation as the season goes along because BRYZ ain't blind and he knows that BOB is wanting his job......Competition is a good thing, and hopefully it will fuel BOTH of them through the season.
Maybe Bob's performances will cause Bryzgalov to have more of a sense of urgency to his game. It is important to keep Bob around to keep Bryz honest. Heck they need to keep each other honest. Nobody should get a pass for lazy nonchalant play. Bryz has shown this more than Bob thus far. Let us hope Bryz becomes more consistent and starts stealing some games....Bob is ahead of him on that as well
So Bourdon isn't sucking? Time will tell if he can keep this up.
He has done very well overall ! Don't know much about him really, so i have been seeing him through fresh eyes...Hopefully he keeps plugging away and keeps the middle open for Bryz and BOB to get a look at the puck.
Still, the team that took the ice didn't put Laviolette in a very good mood the first 20 minutes.
"Well, he wasn't happy, and he was right," said defenseman Kimmo Timonen, who assisted on the Flyers' second goal, a slapshot by Jakub Voracek. "When we don't play with the energy or skating or anything like that, we're not a good hockey team."
And their coach told them so.
"He was just mad that we didn't come out harder and didn't skate that hard, so he was really mad, but he was right," Timonen said.
Laviolette's message was simple and direct.
"I think it was just too many turnovers; we were giving the puck, we weren't strong enough, and we didn't play with the intent that we needed, especially in our building," Laviolette said. "We talked about home ice, making it a difficult place to play."
At the very least Bourdon has done what can be asked of him. If the cap wasn't a consideration, Bourdon would be 10th on the depth chart. And consider that Walker can't play, and they're scared to play Bartulis which somehow got him a one-way contract.
Just wanted to say this was the first Flyers game I've been to in about 19 or 20 years. Regardless of how anyone wants to break it down and ***** about the minutiae of the game I had a great time, and the Flyers basically shut the habs down (after the 1st). Great fun. Still don't get the whole "USA USA USA!!" chanting, other than it's being done by d-bags who have no understanding of where the players are from (do they really think that they're from the U.S. just because they play for the Flyers?).
