Referring to a .500 P% team is akin to referring to a mediocre non-contender for the playoffs.
His point his moot as the season doesn't end at 23 games. If they're .500 after 82 games then they won't make it whether it's based on winning % or point %. Useless argument is my point which also has not changed. Team with the most points wins the Presidents trophy. Teams out of the playoffs often have more wins than some who make it.

its such a useless stat. You don't get into the playoffs based on winning percentage, this isn't baseball. You can keep harping on something that doesn't matter if you want though.

yep, but go ahead plan parades or have them tank after 23 games. Doesn't matter. Just useless is all. 59-60 games remaining is quite a bit and I'm not about to predict how well or poor they'll be. Too many factors like injuries/health of team plus trades. Even without those factors, the team may begin to turn it up a notch and put some winning streaks together.

I just don't see too many people around hockey throw out a ".500 team" statistic referring to P%, because the term is mostly used in a positive (or at least mildly so) context. If we were to apply it to points percentage, it would just not carry the same meaning to me and many others, I'm sure.

But yes, it's a bit of a chicken & egg argument. Hard to convince advocates of either point of view to change their minds.

The hockey world would refer to a 10-10-3 team as a .500 team and disregard the third category of OT/SO losses. They base it on wins and losses only (10-10 portion). Analysts would also say the same and refer Montreal playing .500 hockey.

This is one of those games we could just get crushed...let's hope not...we do tend to play up to the competition...

4-3 OT...hopefully for the Habs...

Is it as bad as everyone is saying? It's a strange year with all teams. Why is everyone freaking out. We are 7 points out of first place, 5 if we win tonight. The NHL is changing and ALL teams are struggling to stay afloat.

GO HABS GO !!!

* got a peak of the Pens GDT and they're obnoxiously saying we're obnoxious. Fun read.

Nope, anyone who knows anything about the game can understand a winning/losing streak can make or break a season even if it is in the first 23 or last 23. The point is right now this team is not playoff quality and something needs to change. If you don't want to talk about it then leave the forum because no one gives a ****. Everything talked about on this forum is "useless" because none of the posters here have anything to do with hockey operations but maybe we still want to talk about it?

You know what even more pathetic? On the pens network then have a Crosby cam. It shows him for the entire game. I seen part of it and he was just sitting on the bench. Kinda creepy. Must be weird for such a reserved kid

I'm not really one for making predictions, but I'm excited to see the Moen-Eller-Kostitsyn 3rd line again. Go Habs Go!!!!

Have 4 lines tonight hopefully they stick:

Pacioretty Desharnais Cole
Cammalleri Plekanec Gionta
Moen Eller Kostitsyn
Darche Nokelainen Palushaj

Now just got to get White back and our defense and start moving forward.
