LoL, just one of the worst periods of hockey we've played in years.
If it makes you feel any better, the Lightning are playing better than the Leafs did the Blues last game. From the beginning of the second period to the end of the game, the Blues outshot the Leafs 31-8 and, honestly, that doesn't even do justice to how badly the Blues controlled the play.
Glad to see that Brewer is playing well for you guys. He never really had a fair shake from most Blues fans...glad to see he could start over again with a good franchise and a clean slate.
I hope this is the game that proves you can't putt along and try to win from behind, and lights a fire under their ***** to actually play 60 minutes of 2 way hockey.
its not like we have a back to back tomorrow but i just question why roloson didn't play tonight. We looked like a whole different team tonight. Ugh i hope november 30th they will arrive and play the wings right going to be my first lightning game too. Been a fan since 1996

They wanted to give Roli a rest.

Pathetic showing. No one looked good including St Louis(the player lol) and that really says something right there.
When we needed a "game changing" save at the end of the second Garon couldnt give it to us on that wrist shot that was from a decent ways out. Should have had it. And of course when we had a chance to maybe come back and make it 2-1 on the PP he made such a boneheaded play.
The whole team looked bad tonight but Garon sure didnt help anything on those two plays. Just an overall bad effort from everyone.
Looks like missing after the 1st period I missed nothing
No, you missed the 20minute power play we gave them for the 2nd period. They finally cashed in on it after spending at least 15 of 20minutes in our end making us look really bad. Blues compete level was on 11, ours was muted.
I just posted over at the Flyers board that I blame their team for playing such a boring, timid game against TB and that they should have called for delay-of-game on multiple occasions.
I LIKE the 1-3-1 trap. I was a huge fan of the neutral zone trap back in the day. It was so amazing to me that one system could so thoroughly shut down some of the most offensively talented players in the world.
The Flyers [MOD:edit]are being a bunch of whiny you-know-whats.
The Blues demonstrated how you beat the TB trap by not letting it get set up. Maybe your players were a little tired or something...not sure. If so, then that certainly helped.
I like the Lightning and hope they learned from that game last night on how to more effectively set up their trap.

Bluesriver, that game was more about compete level than any system failure. You're 100% right about not letting the Bolts setup the trap. We won almost no pucks at all. That's just desperation, D to F gap, puck support and paying the price. We sucked balls at all of the above last night.

Is Brewer really "playing well for you guys"? I see he is -6.
EastonBlues has no idea what he is talking about. Brewer is not very good defensively unless he has a better defensive player on his pairing (like Jason Smith, Barrett Jackman or Roman Polak).
Weird bump but Brewer has been fine, especially considering the smear campaign from Blues fans. And considering we got him for a late 3rd and a broken prospect it turned out even better.
