Not ALL headshots are suspendable and IMO this was one of them. Letang was leaning after taking the shot and MacPac was already committed to hit Letang. No time for MaxPac to change direction or do anything else.
Letang can't put himself in that position. Pacioretty had him lined up well before the shot was taken and Letang knew it. For some reason he took the shot anyway. As it's often said, the person getting hit has a certain responsibility too. I honestly think it will be 0, especially since clearly, Letang was not seriously injured.
P.S. Did anyone notice the head nod by Letang to Pacioretty after the latter presumably apologized for getting him in the nose in OT?
Doesn't deserve anything and worse hits go unsuspended all the time now. However since it's the Habs I wouldn't be surprised if he gets 2-5 games sadly.
Shouldn't get any games for that hit!! Letang cut across the middle of the ice and Patches hit him with a clean hit. He didn't follow through with his arms, his arms stayed tight to his body, never left his feet and didn't make initial contact with Letang's head from what I could see.
Patches also isn't a repeat offender.
IMO the league still owe's Patches for not suspending Chara on the hit last year. lol.
Any Bruins game you watch has about 3 or 4 of these kinds of hits and they never get suspended.....so I'd say Patches should be fine.
The fact that some of our own fans are looking for a suspension, scares me. What the hell is going on around here!?
Well, I don't WANT a suspension. But that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve one.
Letang is in a vulnerable position and Max clobbers him with a hit to the head. These are exactly the kinds of hits the league is looking to get rid of.
If it was the other way, we'd be asking for Letang's head.

People being objective regardless of the uniform a player wears.
Pens fans called for Cooke to be suspended at the end of last year. No real fan wants to see the continued injuries that result from those hits. This one is especially concerning considering it came from a player who could have been killed last year.
What pisses me off is that if Patches gets suspended, he is now a offender. While that pos Chara breaks the kids neck and is a repeat offender and is told that he isn't. And Chara gets away scott free! BS!
Should be Richard riot 2.0 if this gets a suspension longer than one game. It would indicate massive league bias towards the Habs. Especially after Chara got away with pre-meditated attempted murder.
If Malone wasn't suspended, then I don't see how Patches gets suspended. Letang looks at Pacioretty before lowering his head to take the shot, he knew Max was coming..
I say two games, would have been more if Letang was injured. Then NHL haa to explain why no suspension when that turd Chara broke MaxPac's nexk, but clean hit drawing blood is worth two games.
The funniest responses to this hit has been from Bruins fans. They spit out any excuse for a hit by one of their players and then turn around and scream "Suspension!!" for every hit done by a Canadien. Their mass chant condemning this hit is like listening to a mob of brainwashed Moonies.
Letang putting himself in a vulnerable position, the height difference defense that has been used numerous times in incidents like these... Hard to say especially since Shanahan's eased up after the preseason crackdown. Maybe a couple games.
