No. It's Max's fault that he hit him in the head while Letang was in a vulnerable position.

And your comment is particularly funny because that's what Bruins fans said when Max was drilled into the post by Chara. It doesn't matter that he's in a vulnerable position or that he put himself into it. What matters is that it was taken advantage of with a nasty hit.

Anyways, folks are going to freak out over this for the next 25 pages so I'm just going to leave it here. The one thing I will say though is that if the tables were turned, you'd be asking for Letang's head. And the next time one of our players gets nailed this way, remember what you posted here.

Plays for the Habs...bring a video of the hit showing simultaeous contact with head and body plus comparable hits that got nothing...still gets 2 games because habs have no relatives at NHL head office.

Seriously...no way he should get anything for that, the impact was with the nose yaeh but at the same time as the shoulder/body.

It was blindside, I'm already assuming there'll be a suspension. Maybe if Pacioretty was a Bruins player he'd get away with it.

He has to get at least one game for that. I'm sick of the punk attitude of this team. Then he's laughing on the bench about it. You dno't think the penguins are gonna forget that do you? We'll probably end up playing them in the playoffs now, watch.

He was targetting letang and not his head. His arms stayed on his body so no elbow. It wasn't blindsighted, just letang who didn't protect himself at all. He isn't a recidivist. Letang came back 10 minutes later.

1-2 games max for me but he'll probably get more.

Letang said MaxPac apologized to him on the ice. Saying it was classy.

0. There was nothing wrong, and if Letang didn't start bleeding from the nose, there would be no issue.

Guys, blindside doesn't mean jack anymore.

If Shanahan was good, he'd give at least 1. Probably will give 5, or 0. He's starting to suck already.

Can't be considered a head shot, since letang came back out on the ice after missing only a shift or two. He didn't sit in the quiet room.

Zero games, principle point of contact was not the head. If it was Letang wouldn't have came back, unfortunate play, but zero games will be the ruling, close this thread please.

Same thing will happen when a player runs a goalie like Lucic did who got off free. Odds are it happens to Thomas, Chara breaks another neck and the only suspension is the the player who ran Thomas.

Remember when Carbo used to draw names out of hats between periods for line combinations? well that's my guess, you can put 0-5 games in the hat.

It sure is. But this was still not a head shot. And that is that, between us, apparently. You will clearly believe whatever you want.

Deveaux got 3 i think for a 5 minute intent to injure elbow to the head. If Pacioretty gets one in will be a joke.

However Shanny has already shown inconsistency with his discipline so we will see.

But Max was already committed to hit Letang before taking that shot. Letang put himself on a vulnerable position at the last moment and Max had no time to avoid him.

3, head is initial point of impact, and Pacioretty didn't try avoid a player in a vulnerable position.

I really hope the league sees it that way because I'd hate lose him for any time. He's been arguably our best player this season.

Non-star player on unremarkable irrelevant club vs. superstar #1 D-man on flagship elite franchise?

I'm expecting the book to get thrown at him.

Just wanted to give you credit for the honest attempt at objectivity. If every fan base was as mature, there'd be much less need for this knee-jerk defensiveness exhibited by just about everyone on this board.

I haven't revisited the clip so I don't have a firm opinion, but I do understand the frustration felt by so many fellow Habs fans. Our players get hit and the opposing team gets nothing, so it's not surprising there's an emotional need to claim the same leeway that other teams seem to get. The hit itself, therefore, almost becomes secondary to the long political history of past suspensions.

I therefore vote to rename our conference the Middle Eastern Conference.

watch the replay. The initial point of contact is Letangs shoulder and because Pacioretty is bigger and Letang puts his head down as he shoots, he gets clipped in the noggin.

Also, Letang looks in Pacioretty's direction twice i believe. You might as well say anyone in the middle of the ice is in a vulnerable position.

I say none. Pacio can't adjust at the last second because Letang changed his head position. Never targeted the head. If Shanahan is consistent, it will be no suspension, but again, you never know with the NHL and their clearly evident hate for Montreal. EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED...
