We all love the guy, but its really grasping at straws.

Everyone always wants the problems solved by axeing the coach. 2 years ago we all said no more rookie coaches, then some of you complain when Muller and Boucher are hired.

How is Tampa doing this year btw?

hypocrisy
I love logical posts! Thank you!

Not so sure about that. TV ratings are down 14% from last year and tickets aren't selling as fast as they used to (got some nice last minute tickets for the Pens game at near original cost). Every good businessman looks at tendencies and takes action before they evolve into catastrophic scenarios.

I said it before, but I'm blaming the poor entertainment value of this team. They are a dull bunch molded by a dull man. Sooner or later winning won't be everything, unless they trully win everything, which doesn't seem likely in the near future.

As for Muller, congrats to him, show 'em right and make us proud Captain Kirk!

that's fine, let muller get his experience there. in no way, shape or form should montreal go for a coach with 0 NHL experience again.

love captain kirk

I know it was not a serious post but people blaming Molson for the average start are ridiculous.

The dude spends to the cap every year and wants to win. He recognizes that the team has had massive injuries on the blue line and the true nature of this team will not be known until the All-Star break.

People need to chillax, the season is long and the gap is close between lots of teams.

Best of luck to Captain Kirk he deserves his shot as a head coach and I think he will do well.

Now to the JM haters, the biggest catch of the day has got to be Dale Hunter, not Kirk. I woulda kicked JM right out on his ass to get the likes of him behind our bench.

Now I know a lot of it has to do with talent, but the London Knights have been crazy good under him.

i agree but, dale's crazy... im sure he'll do well but i just don't see him and ovechicken getting along. at all.

his coaching style - what little i know of it - may be more suited to coaching kids rather than seasoned players... who knows. wish him the best either way

dale's crazy...

Why would I kick Muller? I loved him as a player and as and assistant coach. All joking aside, great for him I only wish he was the coach here.

Not the best situation for a new coach to get into. Carolina just doesn't have the horses.

He may get credit for "getting Staal going", though. But he'd rather have Dale Hunter's job...

Indeed.

When the Habs suck, people buy less merchandise. Also, we'll most likely miss the playoffs this year, so Molson won't be too happy about that.

Congrats Kirk! Wish you all the best, although I wish you were coaching the Habs.

If Carolina goes on a hot streak...

I hear this type of comment thrown around a lot and honestly it's just simply untrue.

Say you're Molson for a second. Would you rather own a team that just scrapes by and you make money?

Or would you rather a successful team that makes you much more money. Playoff games? A lot more money. (Therefore he cares about success). Merchandise? Sells more when certain players play to their fullest.

How anyone would try to make it out to be ownership not giving a damn when clearly they'd make more money if we were more successful... is just beyond me. It's stupid and makes absolutely no sense from an ownership perspective. You do realize they invested hundreds of millions of dollars in order to buy the team right? Obviously the guy cares about whether or not we win. It's directly related to how much money per year he gets back on his initial investment.

People claiming otherwise just don't understand how rich people think or how money works quite frankly. Just because someone has enough money to wipe their ass with it doesn't mean they don't care as long as they "just make money". They got to where they are today by making smart investments, starting companies, milking things for all they're worth essentially. Why would this suddenly change with a sports franchise they bought because they grew up loving them? If it was just about making money they would have gone and bought any team not us specifically. Truth is they do care about whether or not the team wins no matter how much people on this forum try to delude or convince themselves of otherwise.

It's the type of comment people use when they simply don't have anything intelligent left to say. It's stupid and isn't true plain and simple.

Happy for Muller.

I think he will have success. We all know he is a motivator and a positive guy, seemingly what any Doctor would prescribe for an ailing Canes team.

This is exactly why he probably cares a lot. He even named himself president. A playoff team makes dozen million more. A good team sells much more stuff too (even if its Montreal).

Point is :

Good team = more money.

More money = better return on investment.

Investment = LOTS AND LOTS of money. Which means they cared a lot to begin with if they bought the team.

In the end they bought the team so it could be profitable AND because Molson probably loves hockey and this team. WHY would he be indifferent to the team's success and failures?

The reality is that fans are far too reactionary. There will be changes if the team keeps being below average but rebuilding every time there is a slump is the best way to destroy an organisation.
