Completely agree - Bruce threw away the training wheels and they played like demons. That comeback against Atlanta where Nicky scored 2 goals in the last 5 minutes to keep the playoff run alive was a great thrill ride.

And since we're mentioning 07-08 (and not to detract from the kudos to Bruce thread) but still: Fug you McCreary. If he waves off that interference goal, we'd have ridden the wave all the way to the semis at least.

The Atlanta comeback is my favorite Caps game. I like it more than Juneau's Ot winner against buffalo in 98.

Yup. I've occasionally looked on YouTube for the highlights of that game, but haven't found 'em -- if anyone has a link, today would be a good to remember that win, which I think of as the signature game of Bruce's first year.

My favorite Caps game as well. I was at the game in Atlanta and it was amazing.

My favorite was the Game 2 comeback against Montreal. Winter Classic was also a pretty good day.

Best coach we've had in all probability. Shame it didn't work out, but coaches get stale.

I personally have never seen a run quite like the run he jump-started his rookie season. In time though, I saw him get thoroughly out-coached line-to-line in the playoffs, shuffle lines incoherently, and otherwise mismanage hockey games.

I think he's a very unique and fun character, and I'm glad that the league got to "meet" Bruce Boudreau. He seems like a stand-up, old school Canadian guy; who doesn't love that?

Alas, I don't think he has the hockey brain for this level. I hope he enjoys the seven figures he pocketed, gets his health together and has a great life. I don't see him working at this level ever again.

But I mean, Melrose got re-hired. So who knows.

Short term, I just hope that Hunter can get the same regular season success against the Pens that BB was able to get. I mean love him or hate him you have to love how well we've played Pittsburgh in the regular season since BB took over.

Great coach, lots of things to remember. There's little doubt he gets hired soon, but I want him to win Adams once more, just to prove the haters wrong.

And why some of you are calling '08 playoffs a "run"? You clearly mean '09, don't you?

Rangers fan checking in here...just wanted to say that anytime I'm feeling sorry for myself or feeling like I can't accomplish a goal I've set my mind to, I recall BB's lines, "Ya got twenty ****ing minutes. You're down by one ****in' shot. Surely the **** we can deal with this.", and I feel better and more confident.

Kings fan here... I don't mean to hijack this thread or anything... just looking for one or two opinions.

I feel like Terry Murray's time with the Kings has an expiration date. Looking at the talent LA has, do you guys think BB would fit with our club?

Good piece from Walton. Poor guy, I'm sure he was looking forward to calling some Boudreau playoff games,

For the Caps in 2007-08, the playoffs basically started in the middle of March. They won 11 of their last 12 games -- and their last 7 in a row -- to win the division and squeak into the playoffs on the last day of the season. If they had lost any of those games, they wouldn't have made it. So it was heckuva run, especially since they had finished last the previous season and that year they were at the bottom of the pile on Thanksgiving.

One of my favorite moments from BB's tenure was Game 1 vs. the Flyers. The Phone Booth was about as loud as I've ever heard it.

All those crazy Caps comebacks of BB's tenure... that was something! Thanks Bruce!

But we want a cup in the end (even me).

I really hope that was the team and not Bruce. Caps have made a living off giving up the first goal yet still winning the game since BB took over. Then again maybe it would be nice to actually start scoring the first goal, and I don't know, maybe keep a lead?

Thanks for clearing it up, since I was thinking that you were calling the 7 game series a run

Some of my favourites are the "Really BIG cup holder" and the "Cuckoo Cuckoo" bird calls. Bruce you are really a unique and caring guy. All the best wherever you travel.

Time for someone else on a different team to really wow you.

Thanks Bruce for helping me get back into hockey. Hockey was my favorite sport as a kid but I had to stop playing when there were time conflicts with other activities. When I stopped playing, I stopped watching. Him leading the Caps on that enormous tear brought me back to the game and I can't get enough of it, playing or watching, since.
