Lindback looks like a huge trade chip for us. I suspect he could be the #1 goalie on a few teams right now, much less in a year or two.

Cant imagine that to a rebuilding team needing a long term solution in goal that Lindback plus one of our top D prospects wouldnt make a very attractive package

That's pretty shocking to me, but I guess it's a low-risk, high-reward type of situation if it works out.

If the ducks really want to shake things up they could trade ryan to us for hornquist, lindback, and a 2nd tier d prospect like COR.

but wait, they have hiller....

they trade hiller to tampa for hedman and either a pick or purcell

the season is already kinda lost barring a huge run, so they have plenty of games to get lindback good experience, they get a solid defensive dman to go with all their puck movers. they get scoring depth in purcell,a nd save a few bucks for free agency this summer where they have saku and selanne coming off the books.

anaheim wins, nashville wins with the top 3 guy they have been looking for, and tampa finally gets a goalie.

Back in the Kariya days we had generally a similar team. Just older and maybe our 2nd and 3rd liners had more scoring touch than our team today. But the similarities are all over if you look at both teams. But my point is, Kariya, that one player totally changed our team. He made our PP with Sullivan. We were an offensive force. We didnt win a round but id like to say we got bracket ****ed and we had some KEY and I mean KEY injuries.

We need that one guy. And it needs to happen now. I dont expect it to be a player of Kariyas caliber or turn this team into the force like Kariya did, but if we got a player of a similar stature, you would see this team turn it around fast.

It isn't often SK, Erat, Fisher, Legwand, and Hornqvist all COMPLETELY disappear from a game. If it weren't for Smith, Wilson, Spaling, and Tootoo creating chances, we wouldn't have any the last few games.

I wouldn't trade Lindback at least until the offseason. It doesn't sound like Smith is ready yet, though, he's getting closer. Maybe, straight up, we can get a 1st at the draft.

in which case we've wasted a now-asset on a 5 years from now asset. Lindback can and should be traded during the season, and it needs to be for an immediate return...whether that's part of a package or whatever. It's easy enough to either sign a goalie off the scrap-heap ala anaheim\emery last year or ask for a backup to be included in the deal. Any team that's taking on a goaltender likely needs to give one up.

I guess it depends on the return and how desperate the other team is. This offseason skewed our sense of "goalie worth". On one hand, you have Colorado giving two high draft picks. On the other, you have Washington getting a steal.

My point...I don't feel that, straight up, we get a return worth trading him for. I think he's worth more to the team. If he adds larger value as part of a package, then I'm all for it, but I just don't see him giving us a large return during the season.

honestly, my dream scenario involves including him in a package for parise...given NJ's lack of a real high level goalie prospect, and with brodeur likely playing his last season.

In other news...Cory Sarich requests a trade...that's someone I've had my eye on as a stabilizing 2nd\third pair, stay at home veteran.

Agreed. I don't see much more than a 2nd/3rd needed to be sent either.

hornqvist + lindback + 1st
erat + 2nd
erat + klein

not bad imo

Did just see that Sarich makes $3.6 this year before becoming an UFA. A $2 mil commitment for the rest of the year for him is expensive. Do we have a slight dump to send back?

here is the main problem with Lindback as I see it. You have the Canucks and Flyers out there with Bobrovski and Schneider who are better young goalies at the moment. I think Lindbacks value takes a hit becasue he isn't the top young dog at this point. With what we all think Lindback is worth, I think you have to find out what the price is on those two and drop it a bit for him.

I see no reason to trade Lindback if we don't have to. He's the best option we have. If we need him to play, he usually plays well. Keep him until Hellberg is ready for backup duty or until Smith is ready for the jump. I'd personally rather stick with bigger goalies.

I would like to see Poile try to bring in Sarich and Bourque. Sarich is a $3.6 cap hit ($3.3 actual salary) and an UFA at the end of the season. Bourque is a $3,333,333 cap hit until he reaches UFA at the end of the 15-16 season. His actual salary is $4,000,000 this season and next, $3,000,000 in 12-13, back to $4,000,000 in 13-14, then $2.5 for his last two seasons.

Sarich could stabilize our defense and bring in more physical play. Bourque would hopefully regain his form and bring in much needed offense and physical play. Both would bring in a bit of a veteran presence.
