Scratching Reaves is silly because the LAK game typically gets very chippy.

Scratching Porter might make sense, but he scored last game, and thus played his way into a spot.

Other candidates?
Scratching Sobotka would be silly because he's been playing extremely well and figures to factor into scoring sooner rather than later.

Scratching Grachev makes little sense because the skill sets are completely different, and having size against a typically physical and large team like LAK is a benefit. Also, Grachev > Sterling.
Reaves would be a non-factor if Westgarth is playing or Clifford could be out looking to redeem himself after their tussle last season.

Porter scored last game? I must have missed that.

Grachev is big but hardly plays with a mean streak. Sterling is more chippy and aggressive.

We have no idea. Most of the Blues fans don't want him in the lineup for some reason. I would like for the Blues to play him in front of his hometown team. Hitchcock said about acquiring Russell "we're not acquiring him to have him sit and watch." Maybe that will pertain to calling up a player too.

Maybe he will play against Pittsburgh, his last NHL team.

Sterling played really well for the Penguins in his short time with the big squad. He was the most impressive non-prospect call-up we had.

Case opened. Sterling has played the last two games and was more noticeable than Grachev.

How has Sterling been any better than Grachev? I'm not saying Sterling played bad, but they both played well on the 4th line and neither one really out played the other.

im not saying that sterling played better than grachev but i thought sterling was impressive with reaves and nichol. i was at the calgary game last night and it looked like he was playing pretty well. they had a couple really good shifts outplaying the opposing line. i thought he had a good two-way game and feel like he earned the right to keep it close. i would like to see grachev, nichol and sterling together.

i think until perron gets back, the competition should be between reaves and grachev. from what ive seen, grachev and reaves are similar with the scoring edge going to grachev and physical game going to reaves. if we wanna fight, go with reaves, if not, grachev

getting OT here, i just thought sterling proved he can play at this level and even though he is no superstar and just filling in here for the moment, he proved he can do just that

Grachev seemed to really lose some confidence after his poor game when he was promoted to take Stewart's place (during the suspension). Sterling played well enough, he really shouldn't lose his spot. At any rate, Grachev wasn't playing better to the point that he'd be expected to replace Sterling on the 4th line. Sobotka's return is going to bump someone out of the line-up, though.
