are people getting worked up over the Dubinsky quote about Shelley and Rinaldo? who freakin cares.
its more juice for the 24/7 show
Agreed. I for one choose to get worked up over waiving an expendable fourth liner who has plummeted on the depth chart. You know, the important things in life!

I think its the fact that who doesnt get waived over who did get waived is what people are ticked off about. Nodl is a servicable player. Jody Shelley ****ing sucks. But hey its important for the organization to keep guys like him around.
whatever.
Plus he would have to clear re-entry waivers (I do not think he has any exemption) making this basically a waste of player asset regardless if he clears or not. The only upside of clearing is he stays in the organization and plays on the farm. If he doesn't clear we lose him. If we need to recall him he has to clear re-entry waivers we could easily lose him that way also who knows how it could impact him mentally (if he goes unclaimed) playing for an organization that waived him for *insert real reason being waived* because I do not buy what Homer is selling.

I'd be willing to bet that the Flyers have had the most guys claimed off waivers since the lockout, so obviously people are interested in our players.
That doesn't mean much though. Just because someone claims a player for free does not mean they would have given something up for them. If the Flyers have no use for a player, there is no point in holding on to him just so he doesn't get claimed.
Once again I'm going to throw it out there, I agree 100% that Shelley should be waived, but waiving Nodl because the team doesn't think they need him isn't a bad thing just because they didn't waive Shelley.

What you don't see is that we have been waiving USEFUL players for cap/contract reasons. Metropolit, Vaananen, Nodl,

Metroplit and Vaananen were certainly cap casualties and it would have been nice to keep them. Nodl I don't think is a cap casualty really. He is replaceable by players already on the team. Someone was getting sent down when people return from injuries. Yeah they could have sent Harry Z down and kept Nodl, but they like Harry Z better. If he gets claimed, oh well. Nodl certainly is useful as a fourth liner, but so are the players that will be replacing him.

Because we're going to ignore the moronic decision that they "need" Shelley?

Holmgren is only waiving Nodl to try and lose a contract. I doubt he gets sent to the AHL if he clears
