The guy is struggling offensively and needs to come around. I can't imagine how bad things would be for him if we were losing. Fortunately other areas of his game seem sound, but for his salary he needs to input more offensively.
If you were Torts what would you try to get Dubi going?
His all around game is fine. He needs to start hitting the net when he shoots and he needs to get back to what was making him successful last season and that's using his body to drive the puck towards the net and going to the net to clean up rebounds when he doesn't have the puck. Really have no worries about Dubinsky. He is not a liability. It's unfortunate he only has one goal this season but it's not the end of the world.
If Torts wanted to get him going he'd ride him out with players that are decent offensively. Instead he's got him with Prust and Avery...a line that I personally like, but not one that's conducive to breaking Dubi out of his offensive slump. Not by a long shot.

Yeah it's not like he's someone who contributes nothing else if he doesn't score. It's actually quite the opposite. It's pretty clear that like any player who is in an offensive slump it's mostly his confidence. Which is why I would suggest him going to the net and getting a garbage goal. He still has no issue controlling the puck in the corners and cycling, but when he gets the puck in scoring areas he seems like he wants to get rid of it as quick as possible, and lately he hasn't even been hitting the net. He just needs to go to the net and remember that he can use his body in areas other than the corners. How many times did we see him use his body last year to take the puck from the corner straight by a defenseman and right to the net? And if it didn't go it the rebound would kick out and creat an opportunity. He's just lacking confidence right now.
Don't think there's really much you can do. He's streaky when it comes to goals. He's been playing his game, but the goals are always sporadic with him.
If NYR land Ryan, Dubinsky will be a big part of that deal. It will also however need to include one of your top young dmen, a top prospect, and a very high pick.
(I'm calling it now that Ryan ends up a Ranger and Dubinsky goes the other way).

I don't see him getting that much. Even M. Richards didn't bring back a payment like that.

Not saying Ryan doesn't have a substantial amount more value than Dubi, but that package would be waaaaay too much for one player, albeit a slumping one.
The funniest thing is Dubi is on pace for more points than Ryan so far this season. Granted Anaheim has been awful, but Ryan is playing with Getzlaf and Perry while Dubi is playing with Avery and Prust...

Ryan may have more value, a young 30-goal scorer might be worth more than a two-way C, even though I think their value should be the same.
Dubinsky+Erixon+1st could do it, maybe throw in Thomas.
I have a feeling that we have an excellent shot at landing him. If we don't, I'm not angry either. Torts knows him and if he really wants him/thinks he's worth it, he'll push for it. If not, c'est la vie.
