Ryan O'Marra Recalled

Stauffer says O'Marra or Brule coming on up.

I doubt we can get Brule through waivers, and I'd like to see O'Marra come up, solidify the 4th line C spot, and send Lander down for some devo time.

I got the impression it would be Brule from the comments but we shall see. The waiver concern could be the deciding factor.

Is waiver even applicable if it's an injury call up for Hall?

Yes. The Oil didn't even qualify for an emergency call up when they had all those injuries a few years ago.

That was for Jordan Eberle was it not from Junior? Kinda different situation.

If it's Brule, I think we're losing him. A young, physical guy scoring at just under a PPG in the AHL at half his usual cap hit... I'm really not sure why we need to bring a guy up though.

Their twitter makes it sound that way. But Bob just threw out a few likely names as speculation.

Brule has been playing well offensively (can still be an adventure defensively at times). But he may get claimed for half price on waivers.

The Flames would probably claim Brule if we attempted to recall him from OKC

We dont have a forward for the press box with Eager's back injury. And who knows how much "maintenance" Lander needs.

How do you determine who qualifies for re-entry waivers? We called up Chorney after assigning him to the AHL with no re-entries. We've recalled guys like Gerber & Giroux without re-entries. Does 2-way contracts have any impact?

Yeah definitely the concern. I thought maybe a recall around the last day of the Holiday Freeze may discourage other teams from making claims. Tis the season and all and who wants to get uprooted like that! Wishful thinking.

Who would you think gets the call?

Principe said he thinks with Lander it is more of a fact that he is not used to playing such a heavy schedule with all the travel. So they were giving him a day to rest as he was starting wear down a bit.

Stauffer said Eager tweaked his back in the shower haha.

I really am not sure. They have been trying Lander on the wing some lately. Do they put Lander on the wing and call up O'Marra?

Maybe they just go with the winger straight up and call Ryan Keller or Philippe Cornet?

Those are the three obvious choice IMO.

If he was not injured I would have said Josh Green. He is a big experienced forward, who is physical and can step right into Eager's spot and do fine. He was having a very good season before the injury as well.

I'm not sure why there's so much worry about Brule and his waiver situation, true it would weaken the Baron's slightly, but it would be better for the organization if he were claimed.

Even with Hall's injury don't we have a guy in the PB? Aren't Eager, Petrell, and Hordichuk still rotating in and out of the fourth line?

whoops see the answer in a post above me.. disregard

Would that be bad? Save us @ 900K. It's not like we have an actual spot for him this year.

This is Brule's career. I would not mind him playing anywhere in the NHL.

Even if it is Calgary. Although it would nice to see him here with Hall down. I bet he would make the most of his opportunity, and really run with it.

They have to. Sutter traded most of their high draft picks away a couple of years ago. They are going to have to settle on bottom feeder status to get some back. Still watch out. The Calgary Oldtimers aways have a game with the Oil circled on their calender.
