No, we need a 13th forward or 12th forward if Lander needs more time for "maintenance".

Playing in the AHL would be an eye-opening experience for a guy Paajarvi. He'd be in the same situation as Omark - I could see him dominating with his skillset.

This man.

18 points in 20 games.
A few games at the NHL level could really help his development, me thinks

Teemu Hartikainen would make a lot of sense. Oiler management should keep Cornet in the A for the full year and not rush him.

If anyone comes up it should be O'Marra.

O'Marra has been playing well by all accounts. OKC's top PK guy and takes their key draws. Let's see if his footspeed is improved from last season. He's also supposedly been playing very physical in the AHL.

Brule should be recalled at some point, but it might not be until closer to the trade deadline, or if injuries pile on.

I doubt we can get Brule through waivers, and I'd like to see O'Marra come up, solidify the 4th line C spot, and send Lander down for some devo time.
IF it is Brule he wont clear waiver

Omarra I like

Omark will be pissed

Brule won't get by re-entry waivers. It's highly unlikely to be recalled as a result.

Lander took a rest day today so he would be my guess.

Maybe the just want to have a healthy body in the PB just in case.

Hurrah!

If you were asking me during training camp, I was a staunch supporter of Ryan O'Marra sticking. I really think he can play the 4th line center role for us and add a more physical side than we've had from Lander.

Not to take anything away from Lander, he's been good in his role, but he has potential for more. I wouldn't be upset to have him go down to the AHL and play double the minutes he's getting up here.

Is Lander injured or something?

In any case, it would be nice to see Lander and PRV get more ice time down in OKC. Let's see what O'Marra and Harti can do for us in their place.

Which is even more reason for him to be pissed IMO. If he wasn't injured he'd have his second shot at it this year but instead, O'Marra gets the chance.

Wow, I never knew about this. So Omark and Harti both out for the Barons already. Hall just got injured (again). Hordichuk and Gagner and Whitney were just injured.

I think the hockey gods want us to be a lottery team again.

I think this signals a few things:

Oilers are looking to replace Hall's offense from within...a good call, as most AHLers would really struggle with the defensive side of things if they're called up to provide offense.

Brule is done in this org, unless he agrees to a two-way contract next year, as he can provide offense or a decent 4th line energy presence and he was surpassed on this call.

The Oilers don't want to take away any vital pieces from OKC's current success which means that this is probably O'Marra's last chance with the organization to earn a job for next year (with other forwards improving or graduating into a 3/4 line C in OKC), and they're also not concerned about his development cuz chances are he sits in the PB more often than not while up here as the team still has a full lineup with hall out.

Interesting call, especially as it gives us pretty significant insight into the org's thinking right now.
