Much better effort all around. I thought it was nice of our forwards to finally give our D-men a break by playing at the other end of the ice.

Always great to get the win with the backup in. Now we get Rinne in net against the Flames. If we get the Rinne of the first 15 games or so, we'll get another win.

The way this team play with the aggressive forecheck it's imperative that we have finishers. Which we don't. We had so many chances last night but Trotz has yet to figure out the right lines. Smith aleviates the problems for Trotz he makes any line look good. Wilson continues to impress even though he's not always scoring he makes scoring chances

During this losing streak, Weber has been making more mistakes than any of the usual whipping boys, not that the boards would dare mention that.

Klein is usually out against the 2nd line and the top opposition PP unit.

And as I type this, Weber watches Horcoff blast by him. Luckily he missed.
Weber gets slack because his positives have definitely outweighed his negatives. Sure they are running pretty even this season, but he has earned the leeway that he receives.

Klein has not built the positive body of work, so his mistakes don't get overlooked. I think he's actually pretty even myself, makes good plays, makes bad plays. He just doesn't have a cushion in the fans mind. I think if Hamhuis stayed with him, he wouldn't be in position to take so much grief.

Overall on defense, it's nice to see so many of our medium-ish puck moving defensemen work out. But there are clearly too many to put on the same roster, we need more big, veteran, stay-at-home guys to balance the pairings.
