Based on the fact that we are 9-2 in our last 11 games and are tied for 1st in the league in points per game percentage, I think Torts did the right thing. It's working the way it is, keep it that way.

Given the success Gaborik is having with Stepan, I guess it was technically the right move to split them, but then again I think there's even more potential with Richards had he kept them together. Chemistry isn't developed over a couple games. It's really no surprise that Gaborik is better with Stepan than Richards given that Gaborik has spent much more playing time with D. Step.

"What would have been"?

...we're 20 games into the season. These two will be playing together for at least another 3 years.

Regardless, breaking them up is the right move at the moment. Spreads out the offense greatly.

they tried Stepan, Richards, Gaborik but the Packline struggled so they switched up and heck its worked

It spreads out the offense so it seems like the right move.

Which line do opposing teams send their best defensive pairing out against? Stepan & Gaborik's line or Richards & Callahan's? It makes us harder to match up against....

I think splitting them is OK. That way one of them gets to face lesser defensemen.

I think right at this moment, certain people arent producing like they should, depth looks low when it comes to top 6.So,you need n spread thimgs apart.Yes it better Gaborik and Richards are seperated.
If Anisimov and Dubinsky and worthless Wolski, were scoring, then Id say shoot to keep them (M.G ad B.R)together.But keeping them apart benifits cally and Stepan and makes the opposition stress who to play there first pairing d-men against. This is all working well, obviousley.NYR is 9-2 in the last 11.

Yes,I know Wolski is injured but the few games he played he was more than invisible.

It wouldn't be possible for Gabby to have more gift-wrapped goals.

Let Richards be on a line that is our most dependable in all situations.

Can't tell if sarcastic. How is he an idiot for putting together the GAS line which has done wonders and now having Feds-Richie-Callahan as the 2nd line which is also playing VERY well. And in all that, we are 9-2-0 in our last 11 games. So how is he an idiot for splitting Richards and Gaborik?

Who cares if they play together or not?

Is Richards putting up points? Yes.

Is Gaborik putting up points? Yes.

Then what does it matter?

Oh yeah, because we lost to the Panthers and the Habs, but beat two good teams. Obviously we're overachieving.

Um, we're 8-2 over our last 10. I don't give a **** what the lines look like as long as we're winning.

Edit: 9-2 over our last 11. Same point.

Agreed. I think if the team starts to struggle, Gabby and Richards will be reunited, and so will the Pack line. But as long as we continue to win games with relative frequency, why fix what ain't broke?

You would think that this team was in last place with these comments.

There are things to complain about, for sure, but sheesh people. Look at the standings every once in a while.

Technically we'd have won those SO games then and we should have beaten at least one more team we lost against for the absolute max. (Bustin chops) I'd say we are definitely doing better than I thought we would so quickly...but the team isnt doing better than I thought we could. Possibility was definitely there for this because we added Richards AND experience. Anything above 5th place is overachieving in my eyes so we aren't that over.

i agree, my concerns are when we play the better teams and the games are tight, we most likely are not gonna get any secondary scoring

Gaborik plays very well with Stepan. Richards plays well with anyone it seems like.

At some point, once Dubi starts to come alive, having the lines below would look great too:

Stepan - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan

But splitting them up gives other teams trouble on matching lines. As we can all see, Richards doesn't lack a scoring touch either.

Richards could play the sniper role if that's what the coach wanted. The goal tonight was almost Ovie-esque, using the D-man as a screen
