3 wins in a row against biggest conference rivals

Fri 11/25 vs Washington Capitals (12-7-1) W 6 - 3
Sat 11/26 vs Philadelphia Flyers (13-6-3) W 2 - 0
Tue 11/29 vs Pittsburgh Penguins (14-6-4) W 4 - 3

I dare to say this has higher value than 7 wins in a row Rangers recorded until loss with Canadiens. This truly means Rangers belong to the top teams in conference and we all, fans, will share the pleasure of looking at conference standings in the month of December.

I think that the Canes game will be a big challenge. It'll be hard not to have a let down game after 3 big wins.

i was saying this exact statement to my friend right after the game tonight. every time we pull off a big win against a divisional opponent we wind up playing SE conf teams such as carolina. when that happens we usually dont wake uo 45 or 50 mins into the game that we are down 3-1,4-1. i think thursday is a bigger game than tonight.

I'd be shocked, absolutely shocked, if the Rangers win on Thursday.

I'm also editing this to say... this isn't necessarily a bad thing and I don't think it should be viewed as a test. Seasons have ups and they have downs. If they lose on Thursday, you just chalk it up to the natural swings in a season, not to any real failing on the part of the team.

I was having the same exact thoughts in regard to Thursday as the game was ending tonight. Even though the Rangers have played very well against three "contending teams", Thursday's game will be a test for this team.

When is the last time this team beat the Caps/Flyers/Pens in consecutive games? Bet it's been a while. lol

Regarding Thursday, I'm not worried about it. Win or Lose just play hard for 60 minutes.

well, my point was that, statistically, there is not a big chance (possibility) for any team to win three games against strongest teams (minus Boston) if the team is not actually a great one. Right now there is only Boston who could pull this off. Saying that I rank Rangers among top 3 teams for conference top for next month.

And all the nay-sayers, bandwagoners and trolls have gone back into their hiding places for the time being. Hooray.

3 pts behind the conference leader with 4 games at hand. Nice.

We just gotta keep it going. Can't take your foot off the pedal. We've had solid streaks/runs in seasons prior, we just have to remain consistent. We've had some terrible months of December in recent years, hopefully this team can keep going at a steady pace.

well this year we have 15 games. 9-6 or 10-5 does it for me.anything better then i would think we would REALLY be onto something here.

I like the schedule coming up, I think we'll beat the Canes easily and then the Bolts. Neither of those two teams are doing well right now, whereas we are. I don't think we have to be resigned to a letdown anymore with this team. They'll happen, sure, but I think this team will beat the teams they're supposed to, going forward.

I disagree bigtime. Division rival who is leading the league in points and arguably the best team in the league, the win here further proves that the rangers not only can play with the big boys, they can out work them. Thursday's game is more of just the typical "is this team staying on focus" thing, and there are plenty of those during a season.

I saw the pens game as a big test. We passed, but it was close.

Would be nice to convincingly beat the canes. We have to take care of the weak teams if we are to claim to be a top team.

I just hope they show up to play in Tampa as I'm making the trip down from Connecticut and would like to see a good game.

Incredible how tight the races are in BOTH conferences. December is going to be the shakeout month. We need to win at least 2 of the 4 games we have in hand when we come out the other end of this.

It's a long season.

Caps will get it together to some degree and become dangerous.

Flyers: You know they will be a threat right to and into the playoffs

Pens: Arguably the top in EC and maybe the league

Boston: Surging champs that have gotten past their funk

Florida: They look like they might be for real

Toronto: ditto

New Jersey: Quietly winning with games in hand

Buffalo: Banged up, but a Lindy Ruff team can always find a way into the playoffs

Going to be interesting to see what the standings look like by the WC.

kinda hoping with the strong core leadership on this team and the fact that everyone has bought into the system these usual letdowns are behind us. thats just positive thinking but the 5 or 6 games a year that we come out and lay an egg after winning a big game can make up for 10 or so points in the standings and thats huge.

I'm looking forward to watching Skinner, but that's about it. Hope we don't suffer classic letdown.

It's a great time to be a fan of this team. They're playing exceptionally and while it's unrealistic to expect this momentum to carry for another 60 games, it's been fun to watch. The core are coming into their own, the chemistry is there, and Tortorella has them playing the way he wants them to.

Remember this thread when they lose the next game and this forum implodes with requests to trade Lundvqist. > : )

The Tampa game worries me. We always have a hard time against Tampa.
