That led to speculation that Markov would play on this trip, but Martin didn't sound optimistic when asked whether Markov would face the Ducks.
"I think with Andrei, I don't know when he'll be back," said Martin. "If you look at (Sidney) Crosby, he practised for a long time before coming back. I think it's good for (Markov) to be involved in intense practices. We haven't had a lot of intense practices because of the number of games we've had. Yesterday and today, it was good to be involved in more hitting and more gamesituation type practices.'
Markov has been cleared for contact for nearly two weeks and Martin said the decision on a comeback would be up to the player.
Paraphrasing the Coming Home song by P Diddy on the montage : It's easy to be Markov but it's hard to be Andrei ? If he plays tonight, number 79 will have a blast. It will lift tons of pressure off his shoulders !
Wouldn't have been able to watch the game at all with my regular night shift, but due to a lack of work I got the night off. Sucks to lose hours but at least I get to watch! Very excited for this one, especially if Markov plays. Hopefully the boys bring in the 2 points!
When Ben Maxwell is your 3rd line centre, you've got some serious depth problems. Hiller isn't playing too well either. Hopefully, we have Marky back for this one. In any case, Habs have to win this one.
Sorry but why are people talking about a Markov return today? I think it's been made pretty clear by JM it's far from likely. I mean what are the odds of a surprise return? Very doubtful. We'll likely know a day in advance easily when he returns.
