Paul Maurice has also been fired, expected to be replaced by Kirk Muller.

Lets get Maurice

I would have a huge grin on my face if at the end of the day BB/Maurice/Murray/RC were all fired by their teams. Coach swap day!

All Duck hate aside, Randy Carlyle is actually a good coach.

agreed, it's not his fault that Getzlaf has been invisible this season.

I like Carlyle's system, I'll admit that. He also has passion and gets through to his players.

Ducks management never acquired any depth. Carlyle can't be blamed for injuries. Losing Blake and Visnovsky doomed the team. They overachieved last year and expectations were raised too high.

They have the same defense that everyone made fun of before last year. And now they don't have Visnovsky.

Didn't they just give him an extension too?

Well, at least I no longer feel bad about our bonehead play in the first the other night after watching the Lightning just fall on their face on the PP and allow that SH goal.

Wow. Wish Bobby Ryan wasn't a Duck. Sounds like Anaheim is testing the market for him. His ability and contract are pretty good, wouldn't mind getting him on the team, but it would never happen with our archrivals.

It will never happen, unless it's a 3 way.

So I'm watching NHL OTF, and they do a live look-in for the Fla/Caro game. Kaberle wraps the pucks behind the net trying to get it out of the zone. A Fla player keeps the puck in, passes to a teammate near the goal line / trapezoid line, and he shots and scores on Ward. Ward is kneeling, and the shot looks like it went behind his knee and in. The puck was shot from maybe 6" off the goal line, at the goal line/trapezoid line intersection - NOT a great scoring location at all.

The announcer says something like "Kaberle got burned on that one..." ??? What?!?!? It was a TERRIBLE goal on Ward - no mention of his bad positioning - if he had been just standing straight up next to the post, no way the shot scores.

Just a weak goal - and the announcers blame the d-man trying to clear the puck?...

Not to harp on Quick, but he has let in a few of these... he should be more aware of kneeling down when it's really not needed and the shooter has limited options. It just opens up the top of the net and the opening behind his knee.

Phoenix just beat Chicago 4-1.

Guess those games in hand do mean something.

They mean a lot when you win them. They don't mean anything when you lose them.

Also talk about parity, Four points is the difference from being Number one in the Conf or number Twelve WOW

I am going to go ahead and say it, The Blues are going to the Stanley Cup this year. If they stay healthy, they will make it. They are buying into and playing that system to perfection.

Long way to go but they are differently my Dark Horse pick.

A bit different around the league post: some of those "Dazzling Dekes" video clips they have added recently on nhl.com are amazing. Refresh your memory.

Jagr 1, Bure, Spezza and Datsyuk 1 are my favorites.

National TV ratings are in.

Guess who outdrew Crosby's return on Versus last week?

November 21
7:00 NY Islanders vs. Pittsburgh 198,000

November 22
7:30 Los Angeles vs. St. Louis 245,000

Now THAT is awesome.

Since I saw both (well, half of the NYI/Pitt game), I guess I got counted twice.

I love seeing this. But I realized this and it burst my bubble.

I think we were one of only 2 games on schedule that night.

last night there were 8 games on :/ that's a lot of viewership probably being pulled away because of their own team playing.

Also, Chris Botta of the NY times confirms Sabres/Ducks talking trade

Quote:
@ChrisBottaNHL

It may not lead to a Bobby Ryan deal, but I can confirm the Ducks and Sabres are discussing a possible trade.

Monday Night Football play a small factor in that?

I think Pittsburgh draws the highest ratings of any US city, it's either them or Buffalo?

Yup you are correct sir.

Monday night football plus 7 other games on

Tuesday night with 1 other game on schedule and no football or basketball.

Clearly the ratings will be higher for the latter.
