Penner going/puzzling statement

Per Rich Hammond this morning at LA Kings Insider

The Kings are scheduled to be back at practice at 10:30 a.m. in El Segundo. For the past couple days, they’ve publicly talked up the return of injured winger Dustin Penner for Thursday’s game. This morning, I’m told that Penner is “not ready’’ to play yet — no further explanation yet provided — so it’s likely that the Kings won’t need to make any roster moves today. Today was a notable day, roster-wise, because if the Kings intended to put a player on waivers in order to create a roster spot for Penner, they needed to do so by 9 a.m. today. They didn’t. There’s also the possibility of a player going to the AHL, but now that doesn’t seem likely either for at least the next couple days. More information should be available after practice today…

Hmmm...is Penner packing for the airport?

It's strange.... Guess we'll see.

Anyone want to post a crazy Penner + Prospects + Picks for Ryan proposal?

We could use another scorer.

Westgarth still out-scored Penner this year.

Would be interesting if penner went to the AHL. We invested so much into this guy and it's a bit dissappointing that he hasn't produced a single goal. Again, I wouldnt be surprised if he did go to Manchester. I think Lotki and Voynov has solidified their positions as of now, but who knows anything can change.

I do however agree with other fans that Clifford should be sent down to the minors just to develop his game a little bit more.

With Parse out for the entire season, wouldnt it make more sense to put him on the waivers?

Maybe I am confused but I am not sure what is so puzzling. A guy that is hurt, that was thought to be ready for Thursday, isnt actually ready. Becuase of this no roster move is needed so none was made.

I am confused... how is this puzzling?

Yeah, I drove him there along with Bernier and Richardson. I'm waiting to pick up someone arriving on a flight from Newark this afternoon.

I haven't heard anything on the trade front regarding Penner from the outside. I have heard that we have been busy but DP's name hadn't come up recently.

This seems optimistic. Based on his performance this season, his injury, and his contract. Who would take him right now?

Man I was wrong about this guy based on his time in Anaheim. I thought he could be like a best version of Bertuzzi. But when I watch him play he looks like a guy happy to cruise along and take what opportunities come to him instead of working hard to make them.

Just seems to me that they're keeping things as is for another game before making a decision. Here's the latest from Rich Hammond:
Quote:
Dustin Penner is practicing this morning, but is still skating on a line with scratched players Trevor Lewis and Brad Richardson. As indicated this morning, it would seem that Penner will remain on injured reserve for another couple days, and won’t play against Florida tomorrow. The Kings are using the same line combinations and pairs that they used in practice yesterday and in Monday’s game. More updates from practice to come…

Maybe if the Ducks trade Ryan, they will take Penner back for a draft pick.

You can be sure that if the dux trade Ryan, they probably have interest in Penner. Penner definitely has most value to the dux. Only question is, will they acquire him now or wait til end of the season?

Maybe I read too much into it, but the puzzling thing was Terry Murray saying (Per Hammond on LAK INsider) Penner's hand is fine, that wasn't the reason he wouldn't be playing.

I've said this before, as have others but....

Penner will get traded then go ballistic for his new team. Goals everywhere. Book it.

Maybe Dean told Murray that he was going to waive Hunter to make room for Penner and Murray quickly told Dean that Penner isn't ready yet.

I think they might want another look at these lines, to see where he fits in. One of Hunter, Moreau, Loktionov or Clifford will have to be waived/sent to the AHL, so I personally think it's just to be sure they're making the right call, especially if they have to waive somebody. Murray has indicated he's pretty happy with Hunter's game right now, and Moreau scored a goal recently so another look might be needed.

He is most likely ready to play, But the Kings played well last. So they want another look; see if it was a fluke game or the real deal.

The Kings played focused, and they were laying the body real heavy. No need to bring in Penner' soft As%

Pretty much.

If I HAD to sit someone, I would choose one of Clifford, Moreau or Westy.

It should be interesting to see what develops should the kings keep winning and everyone plays well.

This an easy one to me. You send Clifford down to Manchester and tell him to find his game. He needs to build some confidence. Penner gets one more shot on Loktionov's LW.

Wait 4-5 games and re-evaluate.

I agree. Doubt it happens though.
