If they are going into a rebuild (no playoffs this year), is it not valuable to strip down, and rebuild in full?
Perry and Getzlaf are both going to re-sign in 2013?
You really need me to explain why they wont trade one of the best centers in the game who is only 24yrs old and why the wont trade their Hart trophy winning winger who is also 24years old.
No. Why are so many people enamored with starting all over fresh? You keep the value you have while shedding expendables and drafting solid.
first... it's not "starting all over"
second... have you watched this core over the last 5 years?
third... how has "keeping the talent you have" and "drafting well" worked out for this franchise?

Those are the guys you rebuild around.
so, why would they trade their 24 yr old 2x 30+ goal scorering power forward, drafted 2nd overall... and signed for 4 more seasons
?
I think if Ryan is on the block, then it's fair to say they'd listen to offers for the other 2 as well... especially since they are closer to losing them to free agency.
Sabres havent faired very well in that department...
We've been a rather solid organization post lockout, all things considered. We have a rather solid prospect pool and Vanek + Pomminville have been great so far. This start is only bad when you consider that many fans expected to be elite all year, but our team's strength and conditioning had something else in mind.
Could there be any truth to the rumor that Miller's wife would like to re-locate to the west coast? No link, just hearsay.
To be realistic, I believe Miller stays. I don't think the Sabres are going after Ryan. We undoubtedly have the assets to bring in such a big fish...but my prediction is that Regier is asking about a dman. My money's on Luca Sbisa (maybe a little relief to offset the injured d core).

Miller address the wife 'issue' today. Clearly stated that it's not a big deal they don't live in the same city, and was quite sincere about it.

What do you mean relocate? She's pretty much already there...
If you're talking about Miller and him wanting trade rumors, he's already shot the rumor down. Whether it's a ploy, a lie, or whatever you want to classify it as, is another story.

You proposed they go the whole hog and trade Perry and Getzlaf too, therefore "rebuilding in full".

Because as good as Ryan is, he isn't on the same level as Getzlaf and Perry.
I was thinking aling the same lines at work today, what I came up with was Miller, Roy, Ennis, Gragnani for Getzlaf, Hiller. Anaheim can take some of our extra picks too if thats what it takes.
Bobby Ryan is great and all, but the guy we really need / should want is Getzlaf.

This is my view, too. Perry's value is being over-stated as a direct result of playing with two elite players. I think a lot of the trade proposals here will result in sever disappointment. He's good, no doubt, but you can't over-pay for him. Also, any trade that involves sending Roy or Adam makes no sense at all. That will force us to put Boyes and/or Leino at center.
