Why didn't he have a choice and why wouldn't he have taken 20 from the get-go?

I guess the management don't want to give him the impression that he is "arrived".

This is pretty much what I have encountered from other people since his call up.
But can he fight ?

So apparently he will play with Eller and Moen...

I like that he gets to play with Eller. I see Leblanc becoming a very similar player in a couple of years, albeit maybe more a scorer than a playmaker with hopefully better finishing skills/hands around the net. This should be the make-up of a very decent 3rd line for tonight.

I expect louis to get a bit of PK time, and maybe get slotted in the top 9 the odd shift to send someone a message if it needs sending. Besides that, I expect 4th line minutes.

"Il évoluera sur la troisième unité en compagnie de Lars Eller et Travis Moen"

...not that it's a lock, but I guess they've been practising together today.

I would have loved to see a Leblanc - Eller - Kostitsyn line. Bit of playmaking, bit of board battling and defensive awareness, and a good amount of board battling prowess.

Agreed. But it's still better than playing with Darche and Nokelainen, which wouldn't have been a surprise knowing Martin...

He wore the 17 when he was in Harvard and 71 before but i don't remember if it was at Omaha or Lac St-Louis.

edit:
Ok, I checked it, it was 17 at Lac Saint-Louis, and 71 at Omaha.

Not many rookies get a choice in the number they wear until they have a permanent job.

See Chris Higgins, #88, Plekanec #35 when they were first called up (Plekanec kept #35 a bit longer because of Bonk).

I've seen this kid play in minor hockey. He's got it. It being: the hockey saavy and sense. Plus the drive. Those quality you can't teach. Plus, he's pretty shifty.

Bienvenue dans la LNH, mon Louis. I still remember some of you at the draft that he would never play in the NHL. Well, there he is. He's that good, believe me.
Sounds good.

To me, the Habs are rushing him big time. Figured he needed at least 2 years in the AHL before getting at shot, like Pleks.

It's only really rushing if he stays up for 10 + games like what they did to patches, leblanc will likely get sent down as soon as he's back from his suspension.

Its not rushing him when he's the best guy on the depth chart left (He's probably 16th for the forwards). That's just how every team does it. He'd be getting rushed if he was being asked to be an everyday player, which they aren't.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Predicted 8min. for Loui Loui (and up to 10 min.).
Ice-time: 7:52.

It's going to be exactly what you wrote about...a nice tasting cup of coffee for Leblanc...until Pacioretty comes back. Next season (or right before Hab 2013 playoffs) will be his real call-up, imo. Of course I could be wrong!

I liked his game last night, very quick and reads the play so well. Made a nice pass on his last shift and got into good scoring position a few times. Plenty physical for a skinny kid too. Lone bright spot last night.

Leblanc looked good imo. To those whining that he got only 7 minutes of ice time, remind yourselves that with the PK and PP the habs spent 26 of 60 minutes on special teams last night.

Yeah, but, Darche getting PP minutes over Leblanc

Darche has 1 assist this year. With PP time almost every games.

Time to try something else, like, Hal Gill to screen the goalie or something.

P.S. I liked Leblanc, he's fast, he's disciplined (not getting out of position, back checks, etc). I thought he deserved a little bit more ice time. How JM used Eller and him was atrocious last game.
