What would it take us to get Bobby Ryan without giving up these 5 players?

Anaheim isn't willing to take salary back in the deal, and Ryan alone isn't worth Weber or Suter anyway. Not even close. For a team that's trying to quickly rebuild, young, high end assets are the key. We've got that.

Ducks fans may want Suter or Weber, but I guarantee Murray knows he's not getting tha sort of deal.

my offer is lindback, hornquist, and a first for ryan

then anaheim trades hiller to tampa for hedman and either a 1st or purcel.

then anaheim trades selanne to toronto for schenn

we win getting our top 3 guy
tampa wins and gets a goalie
anaheim accelerates the rebuild to only one year and rolls out a defense or fowler-visnovsky-schenn-hedman-sbisa and beauchemin. gets a depth guy in purcel and their future goalie in lindback.
toronto gets a piece that can help them compete for a cup if they really think they can.

Wow you went in depth... I dont think Toronto would trade Schenn for a rental Selanne though.

Yeah......I was wondering if the Ducks might want to get a new future goalie and let Hiller go. It's not really a "need", but it could be a "help". Lindback would qualify.

There is 0% chance this trade happens.

But there is a 100% chance that we will hear message board posters crying "Poile didn't trade for Bobby Ryan" for several years to come.

Pretty much this, though I think it's barking up the wrong tree. Nothing from the years I've watched Ryan has led me to believe he can be 'the guy' to carry an offense. CP on the other hand?

My take on the Bobby Ryan sweepstakes is that you've got to go after him, but Dirk Hoag's right in that it will take more than a star forward for this team at the moment.

Dirk isn't saying anything that any semi-knowledgeable Preds fan doesn't know.

Josi's play has shown one thing-- this team has outgrown Bouillon. Ideally, I'd like to see:

Weber Suter
Veteran stay-at-home DMan acquired via trade Josi
Klein Blum

True.

That said, bloggers like Dirk (and the rest of us) typically have an audience beyond just Preds fans (and he likely has one of the largest such groups).

Additionally, even Preds fans can let emotions get in the way of the knowledge they have. Part of our job is to try to be above that (not that I always succeed at that, lol) and be a little reminder of the knowledge they possess.

;-)

Dirk said and reinterates what Trotz wants and I think Poile thinks too that they want 3 two way lines and basically that is what we have now and we can't score with those lines. Those lines have basically the same players. Legwand/Fisher Erat/Sk. We need a scorer so the other players and line want try to overdue like Tooto being a scorer which he is not even though he has two goals in the last two games.

I would give Ellis + Lindback + halischuk and a 2nd.

Maybe Ellis + lindback + erat or Sk

That really doesn't add up to much considering the rumoured offer from the Rangers consisting of a 2nd line winger, a top prospect or two and a mid 1st round pick.

Take out Smith. I don't think they need a G anyway.

For Ryan? Wilson + Blum +1st is what I think the final price would have to be.

IMO, if Blum is the prospect, then Wilson is downgraded to SK. Maybe Horny, but in that case, the 1st becomes a 2nd.

any of those proposals is overpayment IMO. It's Bobby Ryan, not Alex Ovechkin.

I'm not saying the Anaheim can't get a return like that, just that Bobby Ryan isn't realistically worth it.

Nashville needs scoring and needs to give Suter and Weber a reason to stay. Ryan would drastically help both. We also need to outbid a bunch of teams.

I would rather make a run for Igilina This is already the youngest team in the NHL, why not add some much needed experience?

Iginla has already stated that he wants to stay and win with the Flames.

My history shows I'd love to have Iginla. That said, his contract doesn't make sense after the Rinne signing- assuming Suter and Weber are both re-signed.

I'd easily part with Blum and draft picks. Instead of Colin Wilson, I'd prefer either Sergei Kostitsyn or Hornqvist going back the other way.

One thing to remember (as indicated by Freidman) is that Anaheim is up against their budget. Draft picks will be highly valued as well as really good contracts, especially ELCs.

If Wilson continues his pace (or picks it up by playing with Anaheim's top forwards), his next contract might be too much for Anaheim. Hornqvist on the other hand, gives Anaheim more time.
