Lydman is a pretty solid defenseman.. A lot of ducks fans said he was the reason visnovsky was so good last year

Ok, I guess we are getting Lydman.

What/who will we have to give up for him?

Purely on offensive numbers...I don't think they're that far off now and certainly not that far off considering Ryan has a two-year (by age) head start.

Man, I had enough of this trade crap. Hopefully nothing materializes, even if that means Ryan goes to the Rangers. They're going to have one hell of a team with his addition, but I don't get why everyone is so keen on trades the minute someone gets injured or we lose a couple of games. The Penguins didn't go into panic mode when they lost Crosby and Malkin, so why do we have to when our losses are much much smaller than theirs were? Let's just work on players playing to their potential and skills, so that we don't have such a valued defense, and then have them play like one of the bottom teams' defense.

Looks like the wait is over for something to happen. RC got the ax tonight and replaced by Bruce Boudreau.

Well that certainly throws a wrench in things. Honestly that was the most logical thing to do for Anaheim.

But if they continue to struggle over the next week or two, I can see this firing back up again. Unless they've seen an over that has blown them away enough to stick to it.

there is no way we could of dealt for Ryan anyway. Ryan makes 5.1 per. who do we trade for that? Hartnell and JVR? wasnt gonna happen. Anaheim if they do deal him can do better then what we are willing to offer IMO

Haha, Boudreau? That's like trying to heal a cut by cutting it. I predict he gets fired in 2-3 years. Yelling "****" in between periods and standing around looking clueless when the other team is winning and you don't know what to do about it aren't ideal coaching solutions

He is kind of useless, which really frustrates me actually, because now the Caps are potentially out of their cycle of monotonous mediocrity. They've shown some potential, but overall they've lacked bite despite barking extremely loudly. Hopefully Hunter doesn't give them some actual bite.

With the coach firing and hiring of Boudreau this should mean Bobby Ryan doesn't get traded....

Bobby Ryan shouldn't have been being traded to start with.

It's not Randy Carlyle's fault that Bob Murray gave him a **** roster. Saku Kouvu isn't a 2nd line center anymore. Not that I'm advocating it - I don't think anyone is naive enough to believe that Lavy is a coach-for-life here - but when Lavy is gone hopefully Carlyle is his replacement.

Bob Murray is the one who should be fired. Waiting for Scott Niedermayer to retire over keeping Chris Pronger was a huge mistake.

Aside from all that, it's pretty obvious the Ducks were waiting for Boudreau to be fired. The Caps should have demanded compensation.

Trading JVR right now should NOT be an option. The organization cannot afford to trade another player in year 0 of his long term extension. It will come back to bite them eventually

Yeah JVR should not be included. Even if it is JVR for Ryan straight up I think I'd pass (and it likely wouldn't be straight up which means there would be JVR + whatever).

It has nothing to do with making a trade due to panic it some irrational mentality because of our injuries.

It's about making a trade for a young potential elite winger who would not only make our team better now, but would exponentially make us more primed for the future up front.

Yes, defense is more of a team need right now by far, but bobby Ryan isn't a player you just pass on IMO.
