We had a little bit of a stretch there where we weren’t happy with the PK. We had a string of five or six games where we let up a goal in each. It’s something that we’ve been great at the past couple of years and it’s something that we’ve really been putting a big focus on in these past few games, because of that little stretch we went through. I feel like everybody’s mentality, that they are going into the PK with, is great.
Them (Sharks) … being a division rival, that’s always a big game. That’s one of our goals this year, is to win the division, and if we’re going to do that we have to beat this team. It’s two points. We’ve got to move forward. It’s a nice win, but tomorrow is going to be a new day and we have to start over and get ready for the next game."

There’s ups and downs to a season. You’re not going to go a whole season with getting bounces and having luck. You’ve got to battle through those bad times and try to take advantage of the good times. Yeah, I think (the chemistry picked right up again with Gagne). You could tell, even in practice, that we were reading off of each other and knowing where each other are. In the game the other day, we had a lot of scoring chances, so it’s nice to play with a guy who I’ve had some chemistry with and some success with in the past. I think we’ve still got that chemistry, and we just have to feed off it. It’s just a lot easier now. Before, it was kind of a feeling-out process, getting to know the guys. Now, you know everyone’s personalities, their game, their style, and you know where everyone is on the ice, pretty much. You can always get better, playing with somebody, but at the same time, it’s comfortable."

(The second-period penalty kills) … that was huge. You never want to give up a goal going into the third. We were good. I think we got some help off the goalpost, and Quickie was outstanding. He was unbelievable tonight. He definitely gave us more than a chance to win and definitely backstopped us.
I think (the team’s attitude tonight) … guys were playing hard. I think we could have a better third (period) though. We have to be better in the third. We can’t just get into a defensive shell. We have to keep doing what we’ve been doing in the first two periods, and stick with that."

Then Quickie [Jonathan Quick] took over when we needed him to.
The system mentality (of generating more shots on goal) … I think you have to talk about it and we did before the game. I think it helped playing teams like Detroit and Chicago, just seeing the success that they’ve had — San Jose as well — that they shoot the puck a lot. Even their star players, they just shoot the puck from all angles and I think we have to do more of that. I think the elite teams do that and we have to start to get more shots.
I thought (on defense and goaltending) … we played real solid defensively. Most of their chances were on the power play. Like Quickie always does, he was up to the challenge. They have some world-class players and they’re going to get their opportunities, and he was better than them tonight."

You’ve got to get after them, and I think it brings everybody into the game, with getting your legs going. You get a good feel of playing in the offensive zone, and you get the first goal. It’s just a play, because of pucks getting in deep, a turnover and it goes right back into the net. So, a real good start.
(Disallowed goal) … that call should have, in my opinion, gone the other way. It’s called a goal, on the ice, by the official, and the explanation then, to me, is that it was inconclusive on the video replay judge, as to whether it was kicked or a stick, so there’s no goal. But, actually, it is a goal by that explanation, because it has to be very conclusive that it is kicked. So, it should have been a goal.
(Trent Hunter’s game) … He played well. I thought he just continued with his game that he showed against Chicago. He was strong on the puck. He had an attitude of getting pucks to the net. He made some plays, coming off the boards on our breakouts, which is one of his strengths, So, good. We had a good feel here tonight. There was good energy and emotion in the game and it got a little exciting at the end.
(Dustin Brown playing left wing) … well, he has come to me a couple times over the last week or so and reminded me that he can play left wing. You take a look at his game, quite frankly, and when he’s on the attack and he is the right winger, he does end up on that (left) side of the ice often. You go back through his days in the Olympics in Vancouver, you go back to Team USA games in the World Championships, and he plays left wing. He’s comfortable, he liked it, he made a great play on the goal, on the disallowed goal.
(Second-period penalty kills) … that was a critical point in the game, for sure. That’s the part of the game they wait on, very patiently, is the power play, and they’re very good at it. They’ve got a group of guys that’s been together for 10 years, and they know how to move the puck around. Quick has to be good in those situations. You kill the penalties the best you can with your forwards, but when it comes right down to it, your goaltender, against a power play like that, has to be good, and he was."

LET'S GO KINGS !!!

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE -

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

This is going to be a tough game. Panthers are upgraded, faster, and less predictable. Also their new coach has been pretty awesome. Going to have to utilize our talent to beat the system. I think our guys can do it. GO KINGS!

The matchups against their top line will be key. Let's hope TM has that figured out and our defense is on their game. I want to see us score 3 or more goals please!

Go Kings!!

I've been very impressed with the Panthers the few times I've seen them this year. Great puck movement.

Didn't expect this to be a tough game before the season started, but it definitely is a tough game against a good opponent. A nice test.

60% of the time, it works every time.

particularly appropriate, given who our opponent is tonight.

Hi guys. Panther sth coming in peace.

There is a chance Samuelson may make his debut. Also Versteeg is not 100% but expected. He took a tough elbow in Carolina last game to the nose.

Anyway good luck tonight and any other update ill let you know.
