look for the announcement shortly. Looks like Josi is here to stay.

Laakso has been with this organization for a while now, but has never really panned out. Either due to injury or due to lack of consistently solid play. I hope he lands somewhere, but here is not that place.

he's basically this year's Sulzer, and like Sulzer, has now gone on waivers.

Too bad Florida is good now, that would have been my obvious choice to dump him. Islanders? Winnipeg?

couldn't have traded him for anything???

he hasn't been very good. But surely somebody would give a 5th rounder for him? Many teams would like to take a chance on blueliners who come through the Nashville pipeline.

It's doubtful. He'll clear waivers. Sulzer also cleared last year, despite being better than Laakso and when he was eventually traded, it was for a conditional fifth round pick--the condition being the Panthers resigning him, which they didn't, thus we got nothing for him either.

I see someone taking a chance on him like Tampa, Edmonton, or even Minnesota. Teams that need some defensive depth. Can't say I'm surprised, he was verrrry underwhelming. Just means more Josi.

Not that there was any doubt, but Bob's tweeted it.

Bob McKenzie
Teemu Laakso (NSH) on waivers. PHI's Matt Walker on re-entry waivers. CGY's P-L Letourneau-Leblond and NYR's Andre Deveaux clear waivers.

I guess they didn't feel like any takers would be out there for a prospect/pick trade?

That answers the question of why he has stayed on IR so long, I guess...
Josi seems to have: a) stabilized Blum and increased his confidence; b) played solid minutes and helped eased workload on Weber/Suter (played 17 minutes vs. Calgary).

I have to admit, I didn't understand why many was debating that Josi may be better than Ellis, but now I'm seeing it. Hopefully, Josi doesn't break.

like i said, teams don't just give up picks or prospects for nothing. better d-men than laakso have cleared waivers already this season. even now, matt walker is on re-entry for half price...that's a much better option.

I told everyone. Josi has been my boy for a while now. Very happy for him and expect GREAT things.

That being said Laakso will be picked up somewhere. Too bad he did pan out here. Can't wait for someone to make this a "BIG MOVE COMING" kind of thing.

Josi has been my favorite Prospect for 3 years. Ever since I heard what Gelinas said about him 3 years ago I took notice. Kid is a gem.

I got a lot of flack for saying he could be the best out of all our young dmen.

Josi's just been a victim of poorly-timed injuries.

He would have played in the 2010 Olympics, he would have started for Nashville this season, but injuries kept him out.

Hopefully we get the Josi we've been waiting on.

Exactly!!! And it sounded like he would of been the call up over Blum last year IF he wasnt hurt. Hes been ready, injuries screwed him

It will be interesting to see who is the healthy scratch when Bouillon returns. Just as it appears Josi has stabilized Blum and also appears to be better than Bouillon on the PP, Hillen seems to have stabilized Klein and is better than Bouillon on the PK.

Do they sit Bouillon?

He actually did stay on the IR just as long as it took him to recover from the surgery.

I hope someone picks him up, but I doubt it, he's been too invisible. I'm betting this is the last straw for Laakso... if he doesn't get picked up, he'll be in Europe next year , if not right away.

Like barrytrotzsneck implied, Laakso cleared and is expected to be in Milwaukee in time for the game tonight.

Is the belief in Milwaukee that with Laakso sent down, Josi won't be back?

I would imagine so. He's basically taking Josi's spot.

Hate it that Laakso probably isn't an NHLer. He came to one of our Sled Preds practices and was great with the kids. He was very comfortable around kids that a lot of folks steer clear of. He even jumped in a sled and skated around a little. Seems like a really good guy and I wish him the best.
