5/6ths of the time, Russian Roullette is perfectly sound judgment, you're right.

Obviously, but you cant tell me with confidence Homer has a pact with every single other GM out there?

I don't like the move....but 850k isn't going to destroy us like some are acting...it's not like this is reddens contract.

This is incorrect. We are a team that needs to ride the pine in regards to cap related. 850k is HUGE. Its a difference between a player that can contribute and cant. Its the difference between having Schenn on the roster or Shelly.

Didn't he **** this up a couple of years ago too with Randy Jones? It's not like he doesn't have a track record of FINALLY being smart and sending someone down to help the cap, only to recall a guy and be SHOCKED that he gets taken when everyone is looking for d-men. This isn't coming out of nowhere. HOMER HAS DONE THIS SAME STUPID MOVE BEFORE.

The Flyers don’t have to necessarily go for a trade, they could look to free agents. Veteran Bryan McCabe is still without a job. The 36-year-old 6-foot-2 blueliner last played for the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers last season. He had a combined seven goals and 21 assists in 67 games.

Some have linked his name to the Flyers, but his agent told Philly Sports Daily he wouldn’t comment on whether the Flyers have reached out to him and said “there isn’t much to talk about,” when asked about what his client’s intentions are of playing in the NHL again or where he would want to play.

It sucks but other teams may refrain from taking Walker because he is still signed for 1 more season...

He made that move after sending a league wide email and then implicitly trusting all the other GMs. Yeah, he really knows the pulse of the league.

Value of a player and value of a player to a specific team are two different things.
But that is exactly what I am saying. Homer likely has information that we don't have. What that information is, I don't know. But he isn't making this decision based on nothing. And if he is, then this is a terrible move. If he gets claimed, I will be all over him like everyone else. If he doesn't, I am not going to say "wow, what luck!" because it is just silly to assume that he is sitting there picking his nose waiving players.

He has a better idea than we do.

The potential benefit is minuscule if walker makes it through. He's a bad player who would chew up 1.8 million of cap space.

Howis that worth potential catastrophic cap crippling risk?

It's more likely that Schenn gets sent back down. Sadly.

Once people start coming off LTIR and we are 850k short of cap space, some perfectly good player is going to either be traded for nothing or sent back down. We've seen this song and dance many times before. This team cannot afford to have 850k of dead cap space, and therefore it shouldn't be running the risk of having Walker claimed.
I don't like the move...but it's not get a pitchfork and storm the castle bad....we just cleared 850k of dead cap space yesterday!

Bets case scenario he gets claimed, we are force to waive Shelley, and then walker gets waived! Oh man that would be splendid

I don't assume that's the case...but if a GM does claim him that's a grudge to future dealings. That risk was worth Ryan Kessler, but Matt walker?

Did you think the Randy Jones recall wasn't so bad before he was claimed? Because this is the same thing.

Randy Jones was claimed by guys very close with the Flyers. The idea that there are pacts is a bit absurd...

If he gets waived by a subsequent team does he come back to us for full cap hit or does the cap hit just disappear?
