Ruutu is a winger these days, hasn't played center in years, he'd as effective as ... Bobby Ryan. If you really want to make Holland the 2nd line center next season he should called up asap to center the 3rd line and getting used to the speed, face-offs etc. of the NHL, doesn't seem like that's Murray plan, but who knows.

I will admit that I haven't looked at the list either but I do think one could be obtained next offseason. It might be a steep price where we lose a prospect(s) but if it addresses the future, then I think it's worth it. It's one of the reasons I was so adamant about Murray going after Weiss this past offseason. Plus I don't see any wingers that are near Ryans level, especially factoring in contract that are better in the upcoming market. Yes easier to find but IMO the smart move is to hold on to Ryan.

The lack of centers available this offseason would indicate to me that it would be beneficial to call up Holland and see if he can adjust to the game. Leave Cogs on the second line.

I believe that a Hagman-Holland-Ryan line would be pretty solid. Especially if Holland can make the transition smoothly.

I really expect Ryan to thrive now. it has always been obvious he hated RC.

long term he can anchor our no.2 line with Holland and KP. Etem is destined for the top line IMO

So happy that he has been "taken off the table". Bobby will be the captain one day. Mark my words.

Unless Getzlaf is stripped of the captaincy, I very much doubt it. Getzlaf should and will be here a long time.

I know that Ruutu isn't typical C, but he can play there, he played at the middle for Hurricanes during this season...he isnt't great in face-off circle, but I still think we should go hard for him in the summer...he is hard working, experience guy and can be use as a winger or as a center...Ryan - Ruutu and one youngster can create interesting second line even without great face-off winning ability...

I would **** my pants if we would get Ruutu. We have the money and there are Finns in the team after this season.

Wild fan had a nice offer for B.Ryan:

Granlund (should solve our center problems for years)
Falk (NHL -ready defensive defenceman prospect, upgrade over Brookbank)
Bouchard (an ok player, salary is bit too high considering his production and injuries, new Blake)

I would do this if we continue to suck and the trade deadline approaches.

Does anyone suppose Boudreau is coming in scared that Ryan is his new Ovechkin?

Why would he be scared? Wouldn't he be happy?

Not really. Just because one player had an issue with one coach doesn't mean that player with have an issues with all coaches. Plus, I know you can only really go on interviews, but Ryan doesn't seem like he has the attitude Ovy has.
