Markov is becoming a distraction to this team.

He may be the first player to sign a "retirement" deal in its fullest sense.

THIS IS BAD for Markov

Good for Gauthier and Martin .

They can lean on the crutch of not having Markov in the line up, to hold off on if Martin needs fired.

Will see Martin back next year ,waiting for a healthy Markov..lol

This is weird timing for this info. He was cleared for contact 1 or 2 weeks ago, wouldnt him not being able to pivot one way be almost immediately noticed in his first practice? Heck, wouldnt he of noticed he couldnt pivot when he was non-contact skating?

Maybe the pain kicked in only as the practices became tougher?

too me then he wasnt ready for contact practices if his knee is already hurting that much. Its really appearing Montreal goofed in the off season when they had no backup plan for Markov.

i really have a hard time believing he cant pivot to one side....maybe hes just not used to it and needs to work on it a little more, but to say he can't do it i think is a stretch

hes been skating for quite some time now and has been cleared for contact...surely this information would have came out a lot sooner

plus, after a couple practices a bunch of players were saying how impressed they were with his ability and that it seemed as though he hasnt missed that much time....

just cuz its been reported doesnt mean its true...rds said he was supposed to play yesterday and that didnt happen, so whos to say mcguire is right?

and if he cant pivot at all to one side, whats 5 days off skates going to do? considering its been a year since his surgery

i really doubt its true

5 days off skates...
Then, start to skate again and work up to the level he was a few days ago.
Then, check if the extra rest magically gave him the ability to pivot again.
Then, start contact hockey again and work up to game shape.

We're not out of the woods.

Because some idiot reporters are reporting garbage on twitter?

I'm sure they let him practise with the team and with contact to boot if he can't pivot to one side...suurreee...

Has Markov played yet? That's what I thought. I never liked the deal to begin with and that's when I thought the would be ready to play Oct 1st. I'd have no issue if it was a 1,2 year deal for less money.

How reliable of a source is Martin McGuire? It seems absurd that they would clear Markov for contact if he can't pivot to one side.

Markov's agent Meehan very upset with the team's silence on Markov's whereabouts, saying he is tired of handling the team's PR for them.

As per Dave Stubbs on twitter

And this is what annoys me. All this silence from management. It just seems so frigging smug and arrogant. And I could understand if we were a top tier team...but how the hell can a fringe playoff team be so frigging arrogant? We should be able to go after an English speaking GM since Gauthier talks once a year anyways.

Maybe Meehan shouldn't have lied to the Habs about the status of Markov's knee while negotiating Markov's contract and then he wouldn't have to listen to queries from the media...

anyone else watching le match between periods? patrice brisebois who is also repped by meehan just said that markov's doctor's appointment in LA was pre-planned and there's nothing to panic about. just more due diligence on the part of the habs and there still no set date for his return. brisebois said habs learned from crosby situation that they won't rush back their best player

My guess is that Markov misses the whole season and either get's traded or retires.

The team has a policy, Meehan should respect it.

Seeing a doctor, I hope not a setback and just want him to be 100%.

I honestly haven't thought about it this way at all. I don't think anyone here seriously believe that I'm making fun of those kids. Every occasion we have to show these pictures, anyway, can be useful.

But if you are offended and think it should be removed, I will, because I don't want a controversy. I thought it was pretty funny.
