Wall Streeters Beat Stock Market With Sports Teams

" Last year Jeffrey Vinik (Vinik Asset Management) bought the Tampa Bay Lightning for $93 million and Joe Lacob (Kleiner Perkins) acquired the Golden State Warriors for $450 million.

But Vinik has done superb with the Lightning now worth $174 million due to arena renovations and improvements on the ice that have made the Lighting a playoff team. While Vinik’s investment in the NHL team has nearly doubled the S&P 500 has increased just 4%."

I like that WPG was first with 21% franchise value growth, but guess who was second?
