I think this should have been the season where he and/or Jari Viuhkola came over. W/ Yakubov in Russia and Brandin Cote, Travis Moen, and Eric Nickulas gone, and Rene Bourque, Pavel Vorobiev (maybe), and Shawn Thornton all in the NHL (w/ Ellison and Keith getting call-ups again), there's plenty of open spots in Norfolk. Fraser is the only new forward (until Holmqvist goes down, which seems likely if Vorobiev makes the Hawks from the start), there not that many forwards down there.
Baines, Fraser, Morgan (and Mark Cullen, if he gets signed) up the middle w/ Ellison, Keith, Laing, Brown, and Holmqvist on the wings ... plus some on tryout and AHL contracts ...
Jonas Nordquist is really tearing up the SEL right now and is currently playing on the best line in the league. He is centering former NHLers Mikael Renberg and Vladimir Orszagh and has scored 4 goals and 3 assists in the last 3 games. His team, Luleå, has the best form in the SEL at the moment much thanks to this line.
He is big, strong and good along the boards. He's a good passer and has a great slapshot which he should use more often. He walks straight on goal when he has the opportunity. IMO he has improved his skating and although he will never be a speedster he skates weel enough to make the NHL.
He was on the national team in the first tournament this season, and hopefully he'll get more chances. He should be brought over the pond next season IMO.
I hope to see him have a good performance in Russia in december with the Swedish national team. If he keeps it up, he certainly has a good shot at making the Swedish World Championship, even though the competition at center is pretty stiff.
