Jonas Nordqvist

Jonas Nordqvist is off to a good start in the SEL. His stats so far is:

2GP - 2G - 0A - 2 Pts, -2, 2 PIM, 10 SOG, 56% faceoffs won...

He plays on a line with Mikael Renberg.

Nordquist.

I think this should have been the season where he and/or Jari Viuhkola came over. W/ Yakubov in Russia and Brandin Cote, Travis Moen, and Eric Nickulas gone, and Rene Bourque, Pavel Vorobiev (maybe), and Shawn Thornton all in the NHL (w/ Ellison and Keith getting call-ups again), there's plenty of open spots in Norfolk. Fraser is the only new forward (until Holmqvist goes down, which seems likely if Vorobiev makes the Hawks from the start), there not that many forwards down there.

Baines, Fraser, Morgan (and Mark Cullen, if he gets signed) up the middle w/ Ellison, Keith, Laing, Brown, and Holmqvist on the wings ... plus some on tryout and AHL contracts ...

Read somewhere Michael Holmqvist is going to look for a house in Chicago, se I assume he has made the team already.

Jonas Nordquist is really tearing up the SEL right now and is currently playing on the best line in the league. He is centering former NHLers Mikael Renberg and Vladimir Orszagh and has scored 4 goals and 3 assists in the last 3 games. His team, Luleå, has the best form in the SEL at the moment much thanks to this line.

He is big, strong and good along the boards. He's a good passer and has a great slapshot which he should use more often. He walks straight on goal when he has the opportunity. IMO he has improved his skating and although he will never be a speedster he skates weel enough to make the NHL.

He was on the national team in the first tournament this season, and hopefully he'll get more chances. He should be brought over the pond next season IMO.

Tallon was in Europe for a couple of weeks recently...Here's hoping he decides to bring some of our European talent over for next year. At least take a look, Dale.

Another strong performance by Nordquist today as he netted two goals along with an assist. He now has 10 goals and 8 assists in 21 games and that gives him a 11th place in total points in the SEL.

12 goals and 9 assists - Tied for 7th in scoring.

You must have checked the stats before they were updated.

Do you think he'll finally come over to North America next year?

I know Dale Tallon was in Europe a week or so ago, checking out our current propects and future draftees. Maybe Nordqvist was high up on his agenda..?

I don't know but I think he's ready.

Nordquist should be high on his list, otherwise it's a shame.

I hope to see him have a good performance in Russia in december with the Swedish national team. If he keeps it up, he certainly has a good shot at making the Swedish World Championship, even though the competition at center is pretty stiff.
