The ref calling the extra 2 on Getzlaf (which honestly seemed unwarranted) killed any chance of them getting the second point, but they looked pretty out of sorts as it was.

Lord does that Kovalchuk contract look ugly now. The dude giveth and taketh away all in the same play. He is not the player that Devils fans were hoping he'd be to put it mildly. In hindsight, even with the scoring woes that this team has, not getting Kovalchuk is better in the long run for sure. You can't have him score a goal and be on the ice for 3 GA. Recipe for disaster.
Anyway, Anaheim is in fine form. Nothing but good there.

I didn't see the play, but it's Getzlaf. He's cultivated a reputation, intentionally or not. This is what would both me most if I were a Ducks fan: you have this world-class talent with such a crap attitude. The guy whines and takes bad penalties constantly. With the way he carries himself on the ice, I just don't see how Anaheim is really going to go anywhere with him in the lead. They should have been shopping Getzlaf, not Ryan.

What I don't get is why do they keep trying to convert him to a RW. Why sign him if you don't have room in the left? They tried to change him to a 2-way winger and it doesn't work. He's worst on the point than Stoll. At least Stoll doesn't scare me on defense.

Agreed. It looked like he just shouted "F Off!" at the ref, but he was skating towards the penalty box. It's not like he stood there yapping a lot.
If the ref was that bent out of shape about what Getzlaf said, he should've just given him the 10 minute misconduct. The penalty plus taking him out of the rest of the game would've been plenty.
Anyone have any idea which ref it was? I don't know if it was O'Rourke or Pochmara. I don't really know much about either one of them, but the game was pretty poorly managed, capped off with the overreaction on the Getzlaf play.
