PG said in the press conference the strength and stability of the knee is the same as his healthy knee. That's hugely positive prognostic factor!

I feel much better and optimistic after hearing that!

Why would you actually believe anything he says?

We cannot give an exact date as to when he will return, but he is progessing as we expected and he should be back soon."
Fail.

Anyone who claims they know his career is over or that he'll never be the same is 100% FULL OF ****. Period. End of story.
Speed and shiftiness ? No

Mobility and transition ? Yes

According to TSN he still had problems turning as of this week, And you can ask any health professionals if you want but people who suffer from these type of injuries , especially more than once , never come back at 100 %. That doesn't mean that he can't compete but his physical abilities will be reduced. There is no if , how or when it's just a matter of how much they will be. Go ask any doctors , they will tell you the same thing i just did.

This sucks, last thing I wanted to hear today was a set back. IF PG is saying the truth, that his ligament and muscle are doing great, than the cleanup should only ensure a longer term healthier Markov. Reports were he was looking good in practice so hopefully this is nothing. But damn, this team are falling behind in the standings and this is not going to help.

Only from the time he's on LTIR, you don't accumulate space for injuries. We don't have 5.75m space from Markov as of now.

even though i don't believe much of what gauthier says, rather gauthier seems clued out - it isn't uncommon for a little artho-scope post major ACL surgery.

From the sounds of it there was loose cartilage causing swelling when he exerted, sounds like what caused the "water on the knee" thing. Hopefully he is back on ice within 7-10 days so it doesn't set him back too much.

Everyone needs to calm down...

If it's as reported - 3 weeks recovery time, then it's not his ACL. Most likely reason is it was arthroscopic surgery. Likely in Markov's case, it could be to take a look at the meniscus (cartilage), may involve removing some torn meniscus. Even the point of the arthoscopy was to look at the graft to ensure its intactness, just undergoing arthoscopy will involve a recovery of a few weeks.

Don't need any more histrionic speculation about this, and idiots claiming that Markov should retire.

It's probably just to clean up a little fluid and scar tissue, which would be "floating" around in his knee and causing some pain/aggravation/swelling. If it was the playoffs Markov would probably play today, but the coaching staff seems to have gained faith in the young d-men the past few games (Diaz, Emelin playing well) and hopefully Campoli and Spacek are closer than we know.

As much as it sucks to hear, the longer Markov waits to come back the better. His knee should only get more comfortable. The last sentence of your post is perfect.

Don't bother with him, everything is great in habs land according to many. We're actually the best team in the league right now too, we just don't win any games.

This

Markov could never be the same player again. Markov could have to retire (extremely unlikely IMO). But Markov could come back and look the same. It's just really annoying listening to people think they have an absolute answer either way. And PS, Markov at 70% his regular mobility could still be a top 6 D man and be a monster on the powerplay. There is just really no way to know whats going to happen.

And unless Goat boy is straight up lying to our faces, Markov is going for a run-of-the-mill athroscopic surgery that countless athletes have undergone before. Think Kovalev in 05-06. He had a prior history of knee surgeries, was in his mid 30's.... seemed to come back fine that year.

What scares me about Markov is if he tears the ACL again. Then it's likely he'll just say **** it and retire.

So far wild speculations have been more accurate than PG.

Markov can't pivot, if he played today his career would be ended. I think the situation is just a tad more dire than this.

Not at all, it was a joke bro, you should relax a bit, you are too high strung. Wasn't even there to prove a point.
