Gilroy looked pretty good most of the game
Pyatt too
VL, MSL & Stamkos always a threat
Hedman mostly solid back there too
As was their keeper
TB lacks depth though...
And they fell apart in the 3rd looking gassed
Conditioning?
Refs were excellent too. I must admit
On track for 118 points
If we play .500 hockey the rest of the way we will get 92 points...
Looks possible
Yeah, not the greatest game, but not the worst. Tampa is kinda boring to watch despite having lots of offensive talent. Tampa played pretty good defense for the most part, though the Rangers D was better. Couple of mistakes and a bad goal by Lundqvist but they overcame it
Good comeback game, good to see some hardworking goals
The Eagles and Rangers win. What a night. Stepan, Anisimov, and McDonagh are my three stars but so many others who could be deserving of one. I love come from behind wins.
Rangers are 10 games over NHL .500...and are technically 15-8, which is still an excellent record.
This team is legitimate.
Were you watching yet in 2001-02? They were this "legitimate" at this point in the season, too, and still missed the playoffs after leading the East around the new year.
I feel like this team is deeper than that one was, but the point still remains.

I was 6/7 in 2001. So, no.
But this team has a legitimate goaltender, unlike that team. That's the only difference I can name positively.

Reason: Games != Points
Gilroy did look pretty solid...to be honest, he kinda looked like that at the end with the Rangers, I think Tortorella just didn't trust him enough to give him bigger minutes to see if he could keep up that solid play. Tampa did and Gilroy kept it up, so good on him.
The Rangers did try to keep him, but he wanted more money than it cost them to sign Emminger, and cap space was tight over the summer
Garon was good at stopping the first shot but he was giving up rebounds, even if they were just little ones, all night long. Really had trouble holding onto the puck and it cost him

That was pretty awful to watch. I feel like this team has better leadership than those mercenary days though.

That team still had Richter, so I think what you meant to say, not knowing any better, was that this team has a legitimate team defense. The FLY line (Fleury/Lindros/York) carried them in the first part of that year, in all reality.
