I have just one question to ask: Would DD be a top 2 center on most other NHL teams?
me thinks not, how about you?
Probably not. No team would purposely put DD as 2nd line center, too unproven. He wasn't slotted in our 2nd line this year either until he got a chance and stuck with it. So while I think most teams would not, in 1-2 years, if he keeps this pace(50 pts or greater) then yah, some would.
Considering his 34th in the league in scoring amongst centres, I'd say most teams would love to have Desharnais.
Some names he's tied with scoring;
Derek Roy, TJ Oshie, Mike Ribeiro.
Some names he's ahead of in scoring;
Nik Antropov, Rich Peverly, Paul Statsny, Bryan Little, Ryan Kesler, Jeff Carter, Tuomo Ruutu, Saku Koivu, David Krecji, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Jason Arnott, Mikhail Grabovski, Antoine Vermette, Patrik Berglund.
Desharnais makes other players with him play better
Markov makes other players with him play better
Subban makes other players with him play better*
Put all three on the ice. We will see a Hockey Singularity occurring
*an observation I noticed when we had Nathan Beaulieu play in preseason. Subban was feeding him great passes and used his positionning with gusto, I believe Subban is a + factor to other player's offensive opportunities)
