I look forward to Boxing Day more than Christmas Day now because of the Juniors.

I'll be running a WJC pool on the WJC Tournament board, but I usually only take 8-10 guys. It fills up very fast, but if you're interested PM me and I'll reserve you a spot. Here's how it worked last year and I imagine we'll do the same thing this year.

Oh, and when is the deadline to submit the roster anyway?
In the time of the camp in NA, there will be only 22 skaters on team (including all of those playing in NA who are on the list). So his chances are not that bad. It's up to him.

sounds pretty decent.

My take.

the weak spots on team canada, defensive lapses and goaltending. and with the americans having the best goalie, i can see them snagging the gold again. finland silver, hmm. don't rule out the russians.

Oh, also, for those interested, there are still tickets available on StubHub, as well, even for Canada's opening game and such. It costs you a bit less, not having to go with a pack.

Well, Noebels had an assist today, and was in the box for Germany's shorthanded winner, making it 2-1 against Belarus. So he's had some impact already

Surprised by some of the cuts on the Canadian team, specifically Murphy, Danault, Ceci, and Morrow. Was that expected?

Is it just me or do the Flyers rarely have prospects that play in the WJC? I remember Carter and Richards and Giroux - other than that, I can't name anyone of consequence.

The Flyers 1st Rd prospects, when they have them (only 1 in the last 3 yrs), typically make the team early in their career. The Flyers have not had great success recently picking after round 1, making blowing the Hyka situation all the more painful.

Right now I'm really jealous of all the European prospects the Wild have in this tournament. Brodin is playing like a boss on the defense, Gustafsson was a sixth round pick and is playing like a boss in net, and, well, Granlund IS a boss, not just playing like one. Ugh, and I think they have even more playing, but I can't remember which ones right now and am too lazy to check.

Not to mention Charlie Coyle who put up a hat trick.

I didn't even know they had him until I saw he was part of the Brett Burns trade. In any case, Larsson, the Swedish captain, is also their property. That's just madness.

I'm probably getting annoying by now, but the Wild also have Zucker, the US captain

Wow I forgot about that!

Watching Emerson Etem makes me a little angry because the Ducks used our pick in the 2010 draft (Pronger trade) to get him. He's lighting up the WHL this year and looked great against Denmark yesterday.

You really thought so? From his stats, I expected a lot more, and he seemed quite underwhelming. I look forward to other games, and I'm sure he's good, but I just didn't think he played a significant role yesterday.

He had some highlight reel plays, but is still capable of better overall games. Still though, Etem when he's of a little bit is better than most at 100%.
