Colton Orr....etc.

Seen this on Spectors.

With us now losing Flinn (possibly short term) and Parros. This would have been a nice pick-up......BRIEFLY anyways.

THE LATEST FROM THE WAIVER WIRE.

TSN.CA REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

- THE COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS HAVE CLAIMED MONTREAL CANADIENS DEFENCEMAN RON HAINSEY OFF RE-ENTRY WAIVERS. THE HABS WILL HAVE TO PAY HALF OF HAINSEY'S $500k SALARY FOR THIS SEASON, WHICH WILL COUNT AGAINST THEIR SALARY CAP.

- THE ST. LOUIS BLUES HAVE CLAIMED FORWARD SIMON GAMACHE OFF WAIVERS FROM THE NASHVILLE PREDATORS.

- THE NEW YORK RANGERS HAVE CLAIMED ENFORCER FORWARD COLTON ORR OFF WAIVERS FROM THE BOSTON BRUINS.

- BOSTON BRUINS FORWARD SHAWN McEACHERN HAS CLEARED WAIVERS.

- THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS HAVE PLACED GOALIE JOCELYN THIBAULT ON WAIVERS, THE FLORIDA PANTHERS HAVE PLACED FORWARD KRISTIAN HUSELIUS ON WAIVERS AND THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS HAVE PLACED FORWARD MIKAEL YAKUBOV ON WAIVERS.

Yeah I would've liked Orr on the Kings, but Tubby would've had a heartattack.

If we had Orr we'd be saying bye bye to Flinn.

He didn't get too far through the waiver order this time at 50% off, being picked up by the Blue Light Special Jackets.

But I agree, it would have been nice to have a little more defensive depth.

he's still young and can still improve. specially with murray and the coaching staff here, he might become very very good ala philip boucher...

I can't imagine how the Habs thought they'd sneak him though waivers again at half off.

Could be a steal for the BJ's if they can develop him correctly. Time will tell. You're right that the Kings definitely have the system to take in a guy like Hainsey and bring him along. Oh, well.

Maybe a change of scenery will do him good.

Pretty, um, colorful thread on Hainsey on the Habs board:

I'd take a flyer on Mikael Yakubov as a two-way fourth-liner, but stay away from Kristian Huselius.

1. Columbus certainly had an earlier claim than the Kings, so any chance of Hainsey went out the window with the Kings good start

2. Yes Reaper, you are correct. While I appreciate Colton Orr's pugilistic skills... that would have really been a move that would have driven a deeper spike into my disgust for the Kings as they relate to dressing clowns instead of hockey players.

3. Yakubov is in Russia... probably a wasted waiver claim, unless DT had a line on his agent and believed he'd be of immediate assistance. Not someone we really need, or are looking for.

It looks like Yakubov had to clear waivers because he was coming over after having played in Russia this year.

Now that scenario seems oddly familiar for some reason...

Who knows if Flinn ever makes it back. The Kings usually have 3 tough guys in the organization, 2 in Manchester and 1 in LA. Right now we have none in either, Parros on IR, Flinn out, Belanger retired and no one in Manchester.

I am hoping DT picks up a AHL/NHL tough guy to pick up some slack while Parros is out and they can send him to the AHL when he gets back.
