Congrats To All Sharks Fans On Getting Thorton...

As a Sens fan , I don't stop by here very often or interact with you guys comming from different confoerence's but I must go out my way to give a big warm CONGRATULATIONS on the aquisition of Joe Thorton.

The Sharks now have easily one of the TOP 3 players in the NHL, it would be quite hard to find anybody that doesn't include Thorton in the Top 3 best players in the leauge with Iginla and Forsberg. You Sharks fans really are lucky to have been a part of such an amazing trade!

As a Sens fan , I couldn't explain the feeling of how extatic I was in the summer when I heard about the Heatley for Hossa trade.....although that was a fair trade. In this trade , no disrepect to Stuart who is a great top 2 Defensemen and eats alot of minutes....you ***** the Bruins in this trade and every analyst has said what a great trade this is for San Jose obviously but what an awful deal this is for Boston and how they have ruined their team!
AND the fact San Jose didn't have to give up MARLEAU IN THE TRADE! I THOUGHT FOR SURE MARLEAU WOULD BE GOING TO BOSTON! WOW!

Anyway , again congrats on getting Thorton he's gonna be awsome , enjoy having one of the best players in the leauge on your team and your NEW CAPTAIN! The Sharks are now instant contdners again and should start their climb out of the West basement!

P.S Thanks for taking Thorton out of the Sens division which makes things easier and look forward to watching Thorton Saturday night kicking the LEAFS *** on Hockey Night In Canada!!

No problem man , I give credit where credit is due and it defenitly is due here! And Yeah , you should be pumped cause trades like this and players of Thorton's cailbre don't come along every day! I expereicned this first hand when the Sens made the Heatley for Hossa deal. Ask yourself when the last time the Sharks made a big trade this significant like this was?

Not only have the Sharks never made a trade this big, I don't think a better player has ever worn teal.

Makarov was a little before my time, I was just a kid, but I think he was at his best in Red, not teal.

As a Sens fan too, I concur with Mike. Congrats! What a great day it is to be a Sharks fan!

Thornton is a special player and without the Boston media and team circus around him, he will be extremely successful in SJ.

Nothing against Sturm, Stuart and Primeau. They're all good players but Big Joe is a great player.

As an oilers fan, have to say.. San Jose pulled one hell of a deal right there which left 28 other GMS in the dust.. congrats!

Leafs fan here ...

I gotta agree with the original poster. You guys made out like bandits on this one. Take it from NE fans who have seen all too much of Thornton over the last couple of years - this guy is a BULL! He's a great player we has the ability to dominate games and opponents. To be honest, I'm happy to see him out of the Northeast division. Good luck folks - if Nabakov can turn things around, this could end up being a great season for San Jose hockey fans!

The one thing not really being discussed here is that Stuart has been playing horribly this season. I mean on some nights he was the team's worst defensemen. The fact that the Sharks are getting Thornton with Stuart as the centerpiece of the deal amazes me.

As a Habs fan, I think I will miss kicking Thornton a$$ every playoff against the Bruins...

Bottom line I think the Sharks stole the Bruins BIG TIME....
Just don't give the C to him, it will be better for everybody and I am not sure if he can handle the pressure of being the captain of a team, at least not in Boston.

When Joe shows up, yep, he *is* a great player. Unfortunately, he's been acting more like the Fantastic Four's Invisible Woman than the Six-point-six Million Dollar Man more times than not this season.

I wish Joe the best of luck with the Sharks. I do agree that without the added pressure of being captain (which he has never been ready for), he may well start putting in a consistent effort game in and game out since he'll be allowed to "just play" as opposed to choking bigtime on having to invoke non-existent leadership qualities.

Yes, he has the ability to dominate games. Unfortunately, he's only done that ONCE in 26 games in Boston this season.

Another indication he may rise from the dead given the change of scenery.

For his sake (as well as the Sharks fans), I hope so.

I think Stuart as much as Thorton needed a change. Joe Morgan while appling it to baseball players I agree with in the NHL too, " nearly every player, even superstars need a trade at least once in their career to relight the competitive fire"
