Since it is now four divisions with no real geographical alignment, it's time to bring back the Smythe, Norris, Adams, and Patrick Divisions.
It is set up decently geographic. You've got your far out west teams and the canadian west teams in one division.

Everything relatively central in the other.

and on the east coast you have kind of your east central teams with Buffalo, Toronto the Florida teams and then your north eastern canadian teams.

And then the real coastal located eastern teams in NY, Washington, Carolina and eastern Penn..

Geographically it makes as much sense if not more then what we have now.

Yeah, it's definitely set up to where if Phoenix moves to Quebec they can just join the same division as Montreal, etc.

I'm was not a fan of the old divisional playoff format, but this should be better with more teams in each conference. In the old format we would see the same opponent in the playoffs too often IMO. With 8 teams, instead of the 5 in the old Smythe Division that shouldn't be as much of a concern.

Some teams will never make the playoffs.

Yeah, I really like the idea of being in a division with the western Canadian teams, that's going to be sweet.

Boston had more scoring chances tonight than the Kings have had for a week. They only managed to score 3 goals. Anyone who watched the game tonight would think they are a team that can't finish.

They scored on only 1 of 8 odd man rushes. When was the last time the Kings had more than 5 odd men rushes in a game?

The Kings players aren't more snakebit than any other team's players, they just need multiple games to get the same number of chances.

That's like the "group of death" in the world cup.

I don't think Washington has a lock on anything.

since 2 divs have 7 teams and the other 2 8, id rather a wildcard feature be brought in

top 3 from each div go through to playoffs, and then the next best 4 teams

the winners of each division face the wildcard teams, with the pres trophy winners facing the worst wildcard team, etc etc, while the 2 and 3 seeds in each division square off

I was talking more about the future(5 years). Still dont see ANA up there now or then, same with PHX. VAN and SJ will still be there with LA, EDM, COL for those 4 seeds.

A lot can happen in 5 years. I don't even want to think about it, haha.

But for now, the Oilers are a team we shouldn't worry about. They are just another stepping stone for the Kings. I really want a rivarly going with the Canucks. They are a team to contend with.

This should start a nice thread on the Oilers board!

The Kings CANNOT beat Vancouver, not even close with this year's team.

EDM have rebuilt all wrong, they wont be a threat until they actually put something into defence, unless they can lure a Suter or Weber, its going to be 3 or so years untilthey have a good enough defence, and by then their start will be approaching UFA

Not true, they have enough offense to score 3 goals per game...

Kind of wondering what it would take from the Kings to get Omark or Paajarvi from the Oil.

I'll have you know that they are only averaging 2.77 goals per game, which only makes them good enough to be a 3rd or 4th place team in the Western Conference.

I disagree.

I think we should have won the playoff series with them 2 seasons ago and I think we are a better team now than back then.

I blame Luongo. Goal line save in Game 1, stopped the Frolov breakaway in Game 4, gloved Smyth's shot from his back in Game 6. Timely goaltending was the difference that year. But yeah, I do think we were closer to winning that series than we were to beating San Jose (mostly because of Kopitar's stupid leg).

meh, i dont think we were that close vs Vancouver, we got outplayed pretty much every game, Quick was very shaky, we had Randy Jones getting exposed every shift

Sharks was much closer, they only won once in regulation
