I hope he personally seeks, and then receives, the help he needs in all facets of his life. Which I would wish for anyone with a repeat history of such incidents, regardless of his/her status or "celebrity" in life.

As Chain noted, thank God no one was injured, or worse.

He's gone from ESPN. No way he survives this.

Come on, bud, this is just idiotic

I feel bad for him, but man was this a dumb move let alone what happened in the summer. Anyone in the public eye would be fired after this.

and well liked by all the staff, and always willing to oblige people who come up to him and give the, "you were my favorite player growing up!"spie, and is a very good tipper.

2) You should never drive drunk. Ever. But I'm pretty sure that the majority of people on this board have gotten behind the wheel atleast once when they probably shouldn't have. Is the guy probably a little out
there and reckless? Yeah, probably. But let's all
be careful demonizing the guy and throwing stones for doing something stupid when most of us probably live in glass houses too.
Abuse problem or not, no reason to get behind the wheel of a car if you are loaded. I mean, you gotta be out of your mind to not notice you are driving on a rim.

In an email sent to The Associated Press on Monday, ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz says the network informed Barnaby that his contract was terminated "effective immediately."

Wonder if Barnaby essentially becomes the black sheep by other networks (TSN, NHL Network or even WGR) that he provided past commentary on....

It's too bad because, as a guest commentator, he was pretty good - he's one of the few that followed the Sabres enough to comment on national media outlets like TSN and ESPN. Now, it seems he'll be on his own.

Agreed, I was really suprised when he wasn't axed after his first run in with "lieutenant dangle" ..

I don't feel he should have lost his job. I guess he could have been warned by ESPN to seek help or lose your job, but this guys obviously is an alcoholic - he needs to do something about it and should be supported, not ostracized.

It's probably due to the fact that this is on top of his domestic violence arrest inside the last year.

For all anyone knows he was already on his last chance with the network and it just wasn't publicized.

Eh, the guy was given a HUGE break with an ACD then he did that. The time to realize that he should really stop dicking around should've been at the moment he was granted that.
