It's been a crappy TV schedule here in Atlanta so far with almost all the televised games being west coasters (starting 10:00 or later EDT), but it's about to get better. After the next televised game against Vancouver (12/1) all but three of the remaining games start at 8:00 or earlier local time.

I have to ask, how do you feel about the Jets being in division

I would assume it means more chances for righteous justice.

It means the Jets probably won't be sniffing the playoffs too often. That looks like a tough division/conference.

The Florida teams are the big losers in the realignment. Maybe Bettman is planning on moving them soon. As for the jets, not making the playoffs is nothing new to that team.

Its been kind of difficult switching over but I'm trying. Mainly just getting acclimated to the players/system/articles/blogs/and finding tv times.

I'm going to the Flyers game on Jan 14th and the Game vs the ex team in March??

You'll enjoy it. Great city and a great atmosphere around the arena there on Broadway with lots of shops and many of the bars/restaurants feature live music.

Bettman doesn't plan moves.

Or, perhaps, the Florida teams wanted it this way because they'll possibly reap in ticket sales from the snowbirds who want to watch their home team while visiting their home away from home?

Just a thought.

Check out this map:
http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/...th-realignment

It all makes perfect geographical sense until you get to Conference C. Somethings up. Perhaps if the unthinkable happens in the most Southern markets at least it won't look as whacked as Winnipeg playing in the SE this season.

There's also this quote from the little lying sonofa*****.

“There is flexibility in this format,” Bettman acknowledged to reporters in Pebble Beach Monday. “Which is perhaps one of the reasons people were comfortable. We’re not planning on any moves, we don’t want any moves, but if we find ourselves confronted with one, the way it’s set up gives us a little more flexibility.”

If I were a Panthers fan I'd be nervous.

I think that's just paranoia talking.

They didn't want to split up the NYC or Pennsylvania rivalries, and the Eastern teams wouldn't have agreed to the deal if they had to play a bunch of teams in other time zones. The only logical choice was to get rid of the Southeast division. Where else do you put the Florida teams at that point? At least they're together.

This, pretty much. I do not see any of the Florida teams leaving and I doubt this alignment was designed to "enable" that. Heck, some of the hypothetical realignments I've worked on have put the Florida teams in with Northeastern folks. (Altho those were mostly focused on creating a "Lake Erie Division"... )

What have I got to be paranoid about. The league can't do anymore harm to hockey fans in Atlanta. We're done.

I do believe however that Bettman is looking ahead for when and if he has to move a team from the sunshine state. He got the biggest TV deal he'll ever see. All these pain in the butt southern teams are expendable now. Look how hard he worked to keep the Thrashers in Atlanta.

Given that ASG metaphorically put Bettman's back to a wall and then held him at gunpoint, there wasn't much that could be done. Do we really have to rehash this debate?

Seriously, if he was that eager to kill off "pain in the butt southern teams" now you'd think he'd have made his move against Dallas while they were in bankruptcy. Or you'd think Phoenix would already be gone by now.

This is just as silly as the Canadian fans who continue to blame Bettman for the Jets having left in the first place.

I don't see the Panthers or the Lightning moving any time soon. The Lightning because they'e actually doing well now. The panthers because they seem to have an ownership group willing to ride it out.

Not to mention, there's that arena lease deal in Sunrise that'll keep the Panthers in town until at least 2020.

Now that you've watched the Preds for awhile, are there any players on the Jets that you think would be a perfect fit here? Just curious if there's a trade target you guys think we should pursue.

My faves:

-Scorer would be Kane, but not a chance. Little would be a nice addition, but would cost a lot.
-A realistic D-man (sorry, Enstrom won't happen) would be Stuart. Great stay at home, hard hitting, mid-to-bottom pairing guy. He did just sign a new 3-year deal, so he might be tough.
-My favorite player in the league is Thorburn. Hardest worker, great attitude, and tough as nails.

I figured the Kane/Enstrom tier was not an option. Stuart sounds intruiging, and I would love to a do Little. What do you think about something like (forgive me if this is awful, I'm not too familiar with these players.

Ryan Ellis + Martin Erat + 2nd ---> Stuart + Little
