My favorite Healy moments so far:

"Reimer doing a good sell job here for a call" (after Gionta hit)

"I'd like to see Lombardi take a big hit" (after Lombardi's first goal in a year)

"Kessel and Lupul are doing great, but lets see what happens when they have their eventually slump. I'd like to see how long it goes and how they bounce back"

"As captain, he should be looking to that guy in the stands" (After Phaneuf penalty, Sundin in crowd)

"What is Wilson doing having Connolly out there on the draw?" (After icing)

"Sometimes, you can get away with no structure on your pp" (After pp goal)

"Reimer looks nervous and rusty" (After the first whistle against the Bruins, no shots on net, puck in the Bruins' zone)

He's right. The CBC is publically funded, which means whenever a really awful so called "comedy" show comes on there, it is the Canadian tax payer who is paying for it. It means whenever the CBC holds a party that only their elitist friends are allowed to attend we are paying for it. Glenn Healy works for the CBC on HNIC, therefore we as taxpayers are paying for him. The CBC won't show the public how they use our money, but the station is stuggling in many areas including news and are constantly asking the gov't (Canadians) for more bailouts. There's tons of corruption within... the sooner it becomes privatized network (like Global, CTV, etc...) the better for all of us.

...and now you know.

For me it's taken a while to dislike Hughson because I always played the NHL video games where he was the play-by-play and if he said something I didn't like, it was the game's fault. And he was always excited because the calls were pre-made. But watching these Leafs games on HNIC, which is the hockey equivalent to Monday Night Football(?), we should be listening to the best of the best call the games. I used to love HNIC games growing up, now I look forward to games even on Sportsnet more (albeit I do love Coach's Corner).

But I don't even need to get started on Healy. The poster a few posts up who made a list of his "favourite moments" sums it up nicely. I particularly love it when criticizing goalies (usually Reimer) when he wasn't exactly a Hall of Fame goalie himself.

Hate Healy, the other two i'm indifferent...

It's an added bonus when the leafs score, the only time when he goes silent.

you said CBC wasn't publicly funded? All I said is HNIC more than pays for itself. said nothing about some comedy show.

nice try though

never said anything about not having time. all I said was I wish my biggest worry was who does the play by play on HNIC on Saturday. when you get a little older maybe you'll have other things to worry about.

CBC is a crown corp, they recently lost a court case launched by Sun Media for information requests. Seems like the CBC feel they are above letting the public know how they spend tax payers money. They are a left biased state media station, from Suzuki to the 22 mins stunt they pulled on Mayor Ford, Strombo's hippie love in show. To now HNIC's inferior play by play team, CBC has slipped alot in recent years. IMO

Since obviously you forgot you posted this.......

Here is a brilliant answer from Castor Zuse

He's right. The CBC is publically funded, which means whenever a really awful so called "comedy" show comes on there, it is the Canadian tax payer who is paying for it. It means whenever the CBC holds a party that only their elitist friends are allowed to attend we are paying for it. From me- I am from the States and know that CBC uses tax dollars to stay on air. So, stop being mean to people, and since you have been around a while and indicate that others should grow up.... Maybe you might wanna check yourself into a old-age facility yourself. They can give med's now.

The above link helps to explain where CBC's funding comes from. As you can see it is not purely based on tax payers money.

1. The CBC will care not what a lonely 7 people think. 7 people equates to $238 worth of funding for the CBC. 1000 people equates to just $34,000 of their funding - Less than what Hughson, Simpson, or Healy get paid in a year.

2. Bob Cole is a senile old man. His play calling is horrible, and his mistakes are frequent. If any other announcer made that many mistakes he would be let go.

3. Healy is very very bad.

4. #freebobcole...??? More like #bobcolesucks, and #youmadbro?

You people are like "Occupy" protesters. You have a good idea (in regards to ditching Healy, NOT in regards to Hughson and Cole swap) but you will never be organized or influential enough to change anything. Furthermore your belief that "you can make a difference" is real cute.

I personally enjoy Jim Hughson and his voice when calling a game.

If anything I am going to send in a letter of support for him.

many channels are profitable, perhaps instead of privatizing it they should clean out some of the ******** instead.

there's no going back from privatization, so it should be a last resort. there's a TON of amazing canadian content which is being made with tax payer dollars and public support, so perhaps they should have access to that content as part of a contract across different departments.

who knows if thats viable, im no expert, but i do see a lack of serious change year after year, while we continue to pay people money who are horrible on television.
