Sauer suffered 2 concussions while he was in junior. He suffered one during the summer of 2006 at the US WJC camp. He had another one right after that one. Saw a skull readjustment specialist in Texas. No problems since then.
i caught that during the game. i felt MDZ was lucky because he put himself at serious risk diving for that puck.

Did you see the hit? He got blasted on the chin, then on the way down he hit his head on the dasherboard. I am sure his brain bounced around in his skull a bit, it was forced one way then knocked forward again. I agree that it seems like everyone expects a concussion on any big hit, but this is different, his head got knocked around pretty hard

I'll repeat what I said 2 seconds after the hit: if he does not have a concussion my mind will be blown

Had a play like that except I got pushed in while chasing a loose puck when I was like 15 and damn near got paralyzed, after about 15 minutes on the ice I was able to get up and go to the lockerroom to see the trainer (refused to leave on a stretcher because I am just such a tough guy). He is lucky that he was able to turn and have his shoulder/back, because that feeling when your neck gets compressed and you feel it shoot through your whole body is very ****ing scary, and that **** stays with you. My neck is still messed up, but the doctors that I have seen since then have told me that there is no structural damage to my spinal cord but I have soft tissue damage or some **** like that. I am just glad that he is okay because that could have ended his career if he was not able to turn his body before impacting the boards

I guess Eminger is about to be a top 4 defenseman for us again.

Hope Mike is okay, but certainly not optimistic. This franchise seems to have sworn to take care with concussions as well.

If you watch the play again, MDZ went down but then the Leafs forward also colliding with him and propelled him into the boards with more force/momentum than he originally had.

I'm really hoping that this is just a maintenance day for Sauer, but everything about that hit screams concussion.

The original hit was bad enough, but hitting his head on the dasher on the way down might be the real culprit here.

Crossing my fingers for a sore neck!

Michael Del Zotto and Steve Eminger expect to be paired tomorrow, which would leave Jeff Woywitka and Anton Stralman together.

No Sauer tomorrow.

TOrts: "Sauer was diagnosed with a concussion. Not sure of the grade. He is day to day"

I hope this doesn't turn out to be a repeat of Staal.

Hopefully they learned their lesson with Staal and exercise the utmost caution with Sauer.

"Day to day" seems a little optimistic/rushed considering Sauer has a concussion history.

I think it'll be in the near future that we're going to see this team get a top 4 RD in a trade. Eminger is not going to cut it if this team wants to go far in the playoffs.
