Looks like Gillies will get out of the pressbox for now.

Thankfully, Wellman looks like he can fill in capably on the top 6 for now.

Good luck to the Gooch.

Hope both Gooch and Lats come back soon and come back healty.....

Other than that, I'm glad Wellman finally gets a shot at top-6 minutes, considering that is what we signed him for. The previous regime playing our prospects on bottom lines was getting really old. You can't expect anyone to score when on a line with Staubitz/John Madden/Gilles/Kobasew.

Even with all these injuries I'm still not that worried. If anything I like the 2nd line look now more than ever with Butch - Cullen - Wellman. I like Seto but he just hasn't looked real comfortable out there so far this season. If Wellman can continue this play I hope he gets a great shot at next year's roster, even if it means putting Granlund in the minors for a while. Wellman deserves his chance.

I think I'm comfortable having Clutterbuck on the top line with Heatly and Koivu. He's shown he can work there and be productive, and the Johnson-Brodziak-Powe third line is really friggin sweet, so I think we should be able to do well with those two lines plus the Bouchard-Cullen-Wellman awesomeness.

Still I wouldnt mind getting Lats or Seto back before the end of the year to take Clutterbucks spot on that top line back.

And you have to wonder just how much more we can take in terms of injury. How many man-games have we lost so far this year to injury, and where do we rank in the league in that respect?

The NHL does not make injury totals public, although private tracking is done by some people, and a few of the official sites (such as the Predators) keep totals available. To find the count amongst our regular starters (that is, non-call ups) you can simply look at the difference between team games played (28/player) and player games played. You'll have to account for healthy scratches if you count Gillies or any other scratched player (like Falk).

This sucks. I think it has taken him a little longer than most to get used to the new team/system and develop chemistry, but I think he has been starting to figure it out lately.

I go to school just down the road from the Shark Tank, so I have seen him plenty the past few years. He's got speed and skills that we haven't quite seen from him yet in a Wild jersey, and like squidz said, he's got a beast mode like Koivu.

Hopefully he isn't out too long. Now that the Heatley/Koivu chemistry is improving, I think it's just a matter of time before Seto gels with them too.

It's a long old season, and in spite of the results, I feel this team hasn't played its best hockey yet.

Looks like Seto is being placed on IR but on the plus side the Wild are calling up this guy.

Ugh.

The well of call-ups has officially run dry then?

Not looking good for Seto.

It would be Nice if Lats could get in shape and practice with the team so he can come back.

How does he figure in our lineup, or is he just going to take Gillies' spot in the PB?

I got worried back then before the game against SJS, when Russo said that Seto couldn't participate the practice. Started feeling that he shouldn't play at all. Makes me wonder how much of an influence did that extra stress on the knee affect the length of the time he's out.

What I'm worried about with Seto is that he starts working himself harder than he can before hes healed enough to take that kind of activity and he ends up turning a season-ending injury into a multi-season or even career ending injury. Ive got the feeling like he was just pushing himself way too hard and that's why he sustained this injury in the first place.

Woah woah woah...let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Jesus. How do you go from a guy sounding hopeful that he'll be back within a matter of days or only a few weeks to career ending.

He's not saying this injury is career ending, he's saying he hopes Seto isn't trying to come back from this injury too early, thus making it much worse than it actually is, possibly career ending.

Exactly. I'm saying Seto needs to chill and listen to his doctors and take it easy until he is abso****inglutely healed and healed properly.

Seto's a smart kid with his injuries. Back in October of '09, he was hit by Evander Kane and suffered what he thought was just some muscle soreness. He only had about 3 minutes of ice time and yet still made the decision to shut himself down for the night after testing it out in the locker room. They first thought it was a day-to-day injury but he ended up being placed in IR for 5 games. He took his time and was smart about his recovery and I don't remember him saying anything about being frustrated. He didn't seem to have reoccurring problems with it the rest of the season. It did help that our coaching staff kept his minutes limited in his return as well.

I'm just happy to hear nothing of required surgery. I like the dude.

Gooch skated before Monday's game but haven't heard of a new timetable for his return yet.

Are you sure? Russo was saying he hasn't even skated since his injury yesterday on twitter. I'd love for him to be wrong, but it doesn't happen often.

Of course, I might be seeing things. You're probably right
