Really, the biggest thing we have going for us is 4 elite prospects who can pan out to be aces. It's unlikely they all do, but the Mets have a core of very very solid pitching prospects that can either help this team better through themselves or through trade.
Harvey and Wheeler are the guys I have the most hope for...hopefully one of Mejia or Familia can be tickted for the closer role. The Mets need to add a stud LHP prospect in the upcoming draft.

Would say the big three are Wheeler, Harvey and Familia. In that order. Mejia is the wild card. I would love for him to become a great 4th starter for us, but he may be better off in the pen depending how his rehab goes.

Pujols will end up in Miami. If he wanted to stay in STL he would have by now.

I think it's the other way around.

Pujols is using STL as leverage right now, going to FLA trying to squeeze every last dollar, and then bringing that offer back to STL. The only way I see them getting him is if they go to like 10/250, which I do not see. He'll be back in STL for 10/220 or so.

BTW, as the way things stand right now, the Mets do get the Marlins 2nd round pick.

#Mets have been told they'll receive the #Marlins' 2nd-round pick in 2012 draft, not 3rd-round, as compensation for Reyes.

Well that's good at least.

Honestly, a sandwich pick and a second round pick is going to yield a return pretty close to what the Mets could have expected to receive had they traded Reyes. So it's not all bad.

Reports saying Florida ready to move on from Pujols.

They also signed Buehrle.

They're officially out and reports are saying he still has 3 offer of 200+ mill on the table and that STL has a 9 year offer not 10.

This could be like Lee last year with a surprise team signing him. I still say he resigns with STL.

I would trade every single Met. No one is untouchable anymore. If the seemingly unthinkable (from the perspective of 2003-09ish), Reyes leaving, can happen, no one is safe. If we get a good offer I'd deal Wright or Santana in a heartbeat. No half-assed rebuild.

Is it possible the Mets could bring back Beltran on a cheap deal? I wouldn't oppose it as he can give you a trading piece at the deadline and he can handle NY. He could play LF/RF, spell Duda and Bay, and provide a power bat when he is on the bench.

I also remember him saying he wouldn't be opposed to returning to NY as a free agent.

Would not be surprised if it were the yankees. The yankees need pitching but its not out there on the free agent market. If they sign Pujols, he can play RF. He has played OF in the past. RF is not a big area to cover in Yankee stadium. The Yankees can re-sign Andruw Jones and have him play RF for days that they want to DH Tex and have Pujols play 1B.

A guy like swisher can be packaged in a deal for a starting pitcher on the trade market.

Why on earth did the Yanks post for Nakajima? Why do they have a need for a 29 year old guy who wouldn't be able to do anything other than be a bench/utility guy behind Cano, Jeter & ARod?

I'm happy with the Sandwich and 2nd from Reyes.

I would say keep a lot of the young pieces, keep the farm, and go for a full rebuild. Rehab Santanta, and trade him at the deadline. Wright I would keep around unless you get an outstanding offer, but see what he returns.

Darvish has been posted according to MLBN.

Hoping the Yankees get him. He's going to be a stud. His pitches are unreal.

Niese has only been shopped because the market for Gio Gonzalez is absurd considering his home/away splits.

I mean the A's turned down a trade with Domonic Brown as a centerpiece, and while I'm not a huge fan of Brown, that's a pretty good deal if it's him plus 1-2 other guys.

If Niese can get a similar return with a nice young position player (especially OF), you go for it.

Maybe they could trade him again to Giants for Gary Brown this time, their other top prospect. Now that would be funny.

The bullpen? You never know with that wacky position more so than in any other sport. Some guys switch leagues and have a bad year and then go back to their original league, hit it off with the right pitching coach, mechanics, etc. It's more warm bodies the Mets acquired as they're going to throw a whole bunch of stuff on the wall and see what sticks.

CF? Is Corey Vaughn even in the conversation or is he still way too young? There's no way the dude they drafted last year with the Italian name from Wyoming is even in the mix is he? I don't really follow baseball that much anymore.

Also, who is playing SS now?

Yup, almost no chance. Polished for a high schooler but he has ways to go. Probably at least 2 years away.

Yahoo sports is reporting that Pujols will sign a 10-yr deal with the Angels for somewhere between $250 and 260 million. And, they're still going after CJ Wilson.
