How does anyone feel about Girardi and McD playing 40 minutes a game?

Is this an attempt to make yourself feel better? Sauer is better than any of those three on his worst day. I'm really hoping Eminger can step like he did last year.

Brutal.

Clean hit, though. Sauer hitting his head on the dasher probably caused the damage.

Not really surprised by this. I'm really not thrilled to see Eminger, Woywitka, and Stralman in the lineup at the same time. This could get ugly. Real ugly.

yep and Erixon is day to day in CT...........Stralman was signed for depth so here is the guys chance. Whoever plays better between him and Woywitka stays in the llineup when Sauer returns

Sick of everything ending in a concussion these days.

Imagine how many went un-diagnosed in the past

the combo of these three with MDZ w/o Sauer can be pretty scary.

No there doesn't. We didn't trade for a dman when Sauer was out with the shoulder injury, and we didn't have Stralman at the time. Why would we trade for one now? Unless they think he's going to be out a long time, but they are listing him as day to day, so it sounds like it wasn't a severe concussion.

More knowledge and a willingness to face facts is never a bad thing.

Lives could be changed or even saved.

LOL where the hell did that sass come from?

I said he's better then those 3 in my post, and I am well aware of the impact he makes in our line-up. I'm just saying it's not the end of the world.

Del Zotto was perfectly fine in the top 4 role with Sauer. Sauer could cover for him a lot. Im pretty scared about a Del Zotto/Eminger matchup.
RB mentioned somewhere that he was walking around in the weight-room after the game. He got up under his own power. Torterella says day-to-day. All I'm saying is Tort's could have given a much worse initial diagnosis.

And FYI, MDZ averages more ESTOI/G then Sauer this season, and 4 minutes more in TOI/G. He's better then some people here think.

Sounds like similar comments about Staal after his hit last year. I'm with Hags on this, day to day could be correct or it could be month to month. You never know...especially with person with a history of concussions.

I think I'd rather have Erixon called up than to have to watch Eminger, Woywitka, and Stralman playing together. The more I think about it, the less confidence I have in any of them stepping up. Especially when one of them will be paired with MDZ.

have to break up the Girardi McDonagh pairing.

Girardi - Dizzy
McDonagh - Stralman
Eminger - Woywitka

Maybe players should stop wearing their helmet straps so loose.

Guys "toughing it out" and playing through undiagnosed concussions is probably how a non-enforcer like Rick Martin ended up getting C.T.E.

Ive not seen a good replay of the Sauer hit, but it wasnt a typical concussion hit. A hit to the cheek can give you a severe concussion. The cheekbone is pushed against the brain. From what I've seen, Sauer hits the side of his head.

I am sure it hurts like hell, and i am sure it's the right thing that he takes some time off.

But I would be very suprised if it was a several month thing. I think he is back within a week.

Hoping for both Sauer and the Rangers that this was a very mild concussion. They'll hold him out at least a week but if he doesn't feel post-concussion symptoms for that time he should be back soon after.

Did the league publish any official concussion protocol yet or is completely up to the team and its own doctors to decide when he returns?

Wasn't it the back of his head that hit the dasher when he fell? That's where the concussion probably came from.

Del zotto has been playing the best hockey of his short career so far this season

hopefully he rises to yet another challenge...the team needs him and Emminger to step up huge imo

Possibly or it came from the impact or an acceleration type of concussion when his head suddenly went from going forward to being knocked backwards very quickly.

Hopefully he's back soon. As many have said, he is a very under rated defenseman on this team and they are going to miss his physical play.
