Just watched that video of Game 5 in 1997 against the Pens, what a great game that was. Lindros scores 14 seconds in, Brindamour scored 2 SHG on the same PK 54 seconds apart, Prospal gets his first playoff goal ever, and the standing ovation to Mario Lemieux at the end.

I'm also taking my girlfriend, and it will be her first hockey game ever! I rarely make it to games and never early, but today will be an exception. So my question is how early are there things worth seeing in the arena? We plan to eat first, but would like to wander around, take in the atmosphere, maybe catch on-ice warmups if that's an option, etc. Any suggestions welcome! We'll be right in the top of sec. 212, by the way. I have my home black Kapanen jersey and I got her a generic orange team shirt.
I'll be at the game against the Caps, too (I live in DC), section 423. If you're looking for a place to grab dinner before the game, District Chophouse is awesome (great in-house beer selection to go along with the food) and right next to the arena. That's where I'm going with friends. I'll be in my Giroux jersey, same one I purchased nearly three years ago. I went to one of the playoff games against the Pens that year (2009) wearing it, and there were maybe 5-10 other Giroux jerseys that I saw, max. My, how things have changed.

Kind of odd that this is our first game against the Pens this season.

District Chophouse is solid. Though I've been known to take a Chipotle burrito into the arena, honestly.

Re: Roo, yeah, I thought about getting his jersey a few years back and yet might get his name on the blank road jersey I'm going to wear on Tuesday (I only wear replica jerseys to road games). Now it's everywhere - as he totally deserves.

Still looking for advice re: timing of warm-ups at Wells Fargo tonight. Thanks!

If big Mac is in for the Pens does that mean Shelley will get in his first tilt?

it doesnt mean much at this time, there will probably be a few of these "1st place deciding games" on the horizon.

Probably has something to do with the fact that the league knew Crosby would miss the first half of the season

can't wait to see this PP-fest tonight
And it looks like Crosby won't play to save him from a Flyer ending his career.

″With that guy, you never know,″ Orpik told Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Rreview. ″With his personality, I wasn’t shocked that he went to Philly.″

″I’ve been here the longest of anyone and I’ve never played with him. Had one training camp with him — that was it.”

Tells you everything you need to know about Brooks Orpik.

Up until today, I actually had a little respect for Orpik because I think he is one of the bedt hitters in the league. Then I realized I had never really listened to anything he's said.

Looks like Crosby had been watching some highlights of Rinaldo and chose to sit this one out.

Maybe you should quote the whole article instead of being selective.

You know, like the part where he says only the fans care about Jagr and the players could actually give a ****.

Flame Crosby all you guys want. That stuff is kind of funny in its irrationality and quite frankly, the rivalry needs **** like that.

But the above is simply reaching.

Shero signed Kennedy instead of Jagr. Worked out for the Flyers.

Orpik had one training camp with Jagr but knows so much about JJ personality? Orpik must read a lot.

Anyway, so who is going to start tonight? Bobrovsky or Bryzgalov? What about Briere? Is he playinig tonight? Any updates?

OK, so then please explain what Orpik meant by that since it was NOT a cheap shot in your opinion.

If he doesn't care then why did he feel the need to make a comment like that and then go on to admit he only played one training camp with the guy so he probably barely knows him.

It should mean a lot. I am ALWAYS looking at the standings to see how teams are doing. We can go from middle of playoff birth to top of the east. That sends a message to the league: We are currently the best team in the east, and have the best player in the league, with Giroux #1 in points. HUGE GAME.

Secure #1 in east and secure #1 point leader. WATCH THE F OUT!

No morning skate was held. When the team arrives at the rink later today, info will be released.
