I just got the link to this in an email a few minutes ago. If there is a thread on it here, I must have missed it...

Eh, look at the time of the article. 11:33 last night. Right now only Leino got called by Shanny. I'll be surprised if Bourdon got called. Usually the offenders are called at the same time.

Gerbe looked at him coming and, instead of getting out of the way, turned his back more towards Bourdon.

That probably factors into it, the NHL probably wants to send a message to players so they stop doing that.

yea they need to put a stop to guys turning numbers towards hits just to earn a PP..

its a ***** move, something i would expect from cindy C. but not every NHL player with a set of nuts.

either take the hit or get out of the way..

Gerbe didnt turn his back on him to draw a penalty. He turned to play the puck along the boards. He has the right to do that. Bourdon needs to be more aware of the situation.

That said, I don't think it was quite suspension worthy

On top of which, Gerbe was playing the hero by coming back in a full face shield after getting his nose sliced in half by a skate. If he wasn't playing with a face full of stitches, he probably wouldn't have even felt that hit.

wow, he's like what 20 inches from the boards and knows he's coming. He didn't go head first into the boards, he went in chest first. Most Dmen take several hits like this a game. It's just physics, big guy hits little guy, little guy goes down. If he was looking down and his head is driven into the dasher, yes, but that's not what happened.

Bourdon should have gotten a game. It wasn't intentional, but Gerbe was facing the other way to accept a pass/begin the rush. He wasn't really "turtling" but I agree he was a little irresponsible to face the boards head first about a foot away while taking that pass. That said, Bourdon was looking right at Gerbe's number for a few seconds and placed his hands RIGHT on his back for the hit. It was part of the play, but Bourdon was reckless. He should get a game or two.

Made me chuckle. Such an antiseptic analysis.

Agreed. It was definitely a penalty, Bourdon knew it as soon as he had finished the check, but not every boarding penalty is suspension worthy and this one is definitely not.

No hearing / no suspension for Bourdon per NHL.

I didn't think it was any worse than Beleskey's hit on Couturier the other night. No suspension was the right call.
