Honestly, if we are missing both Sauer for any extended period of time, without Staal we are completely and utterly ****ed.

Yep. This felt like a pre-lockout Rangers loss.

This team has responded well all year, tonight was crap. I expect McD to come back and play well, like he has all year.

Agree. The SO is a toughie. Do you go with the guys with the best skills or the guys that have proven to be good? I think the latter.

Gabby has been one of our best forwards all season, he had a bad game, along with essentially the rest of the team, it happens.

I am starting to get frustrated with Boyle (brutal on the PP), and especially Dubinsky. He's been good defensively, but at some point you gotta start scoring some goals.

That steam being blown off, however, the Rangers again could have easily won this game as they played very well for the most part.
So he needs to stop breakaways and shots deflected off his own players? i guess we can just add that to the list of unforgivable goals.

- one timers
- screened shot
- sniped shots
- 2 on 1s
- breakaways
- goals that hit off his own players
- empty nets

That is what happens when you take the second half of the game off.

Ride the hot player. Gaborik against Anaheim ring a bell? Arty may be 1-8 but he obviously has the moves and the wicked shot for the shootout

Rather him than Dominic ****ing Moore. Whined about the Rangers to the media and is stealthily one of the dirtiest players in the league.

The horse is beyond dead at this point, stop beating it.

Gaborik is the best scorer on this team by far, you don't need to exaggerate the point to this level of extremity. He may not be the best player in the shootout, nor is he going to deke around every player on the ice, but he's a PPG player that is far from a defensive liability. It'd be different if he was constantly on the ice for goals against, but he's not.

I can't blame Tortorella for the shootout choices. He is going by the statistics. Mitchell, sure "AHL fodder" is 4-for-6 in his career. Richards is over 40%. And Gaborik is there "big gun." Not bad choices.

Lundqvist is too hard on himself here for "I have to be better in the shootout" Richards has to be better. Richards was an elite shootout player, and hasn't done it here in the SO.

It barely deflected at all. I love Lundqvist, but that goal cannot go in the net, with the Rangers leading 2-1 and in the last two minutes. Is it a "horrible" goal? No. But it's far from unstoppable.

Hockey, any team can win any given night against any given team. Get over it.
Montreal>Tampa, especially Tampa without Martin St. Louis.

Thought the same thing. I guess that one goal in Washington last year was the only one then.

It makes our D go from Decent to absolutely pathetic. McDonaugh is tired, you can see it tonight. and rightfully so. But he and girardi have no room for rest. Pretty sure this is the downward spiral coming that was lurking around the corner. and for once, it's because of injury.

Agree again, it's not an unstoppable goal, and you can't rip him apart for it, but that's the type of situation where you kind of expect a goalie of his caliber to make that save. But then again, I think we often take for granted a lot of the difficult saves that he makes, and makes looked relatively routine.
