DL can be the greatest drafter in NHL history, a master trader, fantastic scouting staff, etc...
None of it means squat if the NHL team sucks after 5+ years - if the team can't put up results, the GM hasn't done his job and needs to go.
Depends. I'll give Dean the season to correct it. Depends on how he handles the coaching situation. If he decides to go down with the ship and leave Murray there and expect things to change, then yes.

Aside from the obvious that Terry and Dean need to get canned, but did anybody else notice that for the first two periods the Kings would not skate or position themselves right in the slot??? It wasn't until Penner's goal that I saw it.
Anyways, keep the flow hating.
Anybody want my two tix for Saturday? I can't even think about spending another dime on AEG/Kings until there's something done.
I personally haven't seen Lombardi say anything bad about Murray, ever, so it has to be said...
Well, what if it was the case? How scary is that?
Dean Lombardi does have the balls to fire Murray, I just truly believe Dean doesn't think it's a coaching issue.
In his mind the players are not doing what is asked of them. Now you can't fire a roster, so the players at some point are going to force his hand. But I bet he ships out some players as well.
It's up to Dean at this point.
And with that I am done talking about this. It's been beat to death on this board. What is there left to say really?
Nothing is going to change unless Dean Lombardi decides it needs too.
If anyone starts that, they're going to be the first to go. Even before the coach. One thing I think has been made abundantly clear by Lombardi is that you don't buck against management and make yourself a target for them. Cammalleri bucked and got sent away, so did O'Sullivan. Anyone tries pulling a player revolt and they're a goner. Now Jack's right of course.
I'm not even mad at Murray. He has a system and he's sticking to it. It's Dean's job to find this team a coach that can take it to the next level. I'm starting to think Dean is the bigger failure.
Realistically, Dean and Terry have never taken a team all the way. Why are we expecting them to do it in LA?

They've taken teams all the way to the unemployment line.
Something different? As in stop listening to the coach? Would love to know what Jack means by that.

Don't go blowing this out of proportion. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out than when they're only scoring one or two a game that they need to do "something different" and that doesn't automatically mean he's saying it's the coaches fault.
I liked how the Kings scored their first goal. See how the puck moved, interchangeable player positions, no pass traveled more than 2 feet, and still they had players at the net and scored! Maybe they should adopt that strategy more often because the north-south offense does not fit this roster at all!
I'm going to start taking collections for a billboard on Lombardi's drive to work that says "Dean, please fire Murray. Sincerely, Kings fans." It could work. Stranger things have happened.
Wow I hope so my birthday is Monday, that would be a wonderful present from the Kings to me
Cause that was just embarrassing. This team is way too loaded with talent to play like that. In the 3rd, down goals, Kopitar is the ONLY player out there making plays, actually working. We have potentially one of the most dynamic players in the league on the backend in Doughty and he looks scared to ever rush or get caught out of position, the blueline is static, the forwards refuse to try anything, it's just terrible to watch.
On the bright side, Penner has 2g, 1a in 3gp since returning from injury
The concern I have is this team CONSISTENTLY scores 2 goals a game...even very bad teams in this league break out once in a while with 6 or 7 goals in a a game!
It's really amazing that they have not had one game like that.

The most they scored this year was 5 against the Wild, right?
